In George Stavropoulus
At an event hosted by a fashion publication, Sonam was seen in a vintage draped gown from George Stavropoulus sourced from Shrimpton Couture. The late New York designer is known for his draped chiffon gowns and dresses and am wondering if Sonam picked this one because of its similarity to a sari. When wearing western, Sonam loves to infuse Indian jewellery and here she added a choker necklace and kangans on both wrists. Loved that she went the vintage route but I need more closeups to decide on whether I like this. Jury is still out on this one.
Update: Now that I’ve seen a few more videos, given that she wore those gorgeous ear cuffs, would’ve loved to see her do a sleek updo. I also think the wide choker necklace was overkill. A simple hasli style neckpiece would’ve worked better. Also, Ms. Kapoor is quite tall so am surprised that the gown was still pooling here.

If its a saree- its a messy saree.
If its a gown its a shabby gown
If its a cross- its a poor effort
Love the color though!!
This shade of yellow does nothing for her skin tone. This sari/gown has so much draping going on, I think she should have stuck to ear cuffs and a sleeker hairdo.
I didn’t like it, The outfit doesn’t look nice. Sort of a bit shabby like what the first comment says
As for the ear cuff they just look like oversized blue tooth in ears than actual intricate ethnic jewelry. So it felt more like added just for effect. I actually like the joker out of everything that is being supported here but overall the book filled over thought and falls flat
Looks like silky curtains
I *really* don’t get Indians wearing a western reference to a saree. I mean, why would you? Western designers got inspired by the saree and co-opted it for their markets as gowns — totally comprehensible. Indians borrowing it back makes NO sense whatsoever — and to wear it with jewellery that would normally accompany a saree is just deeply ironical.
She looks dainty in that chiffon sari-styled gown but why does her make-up make her look like that young girl from Made-in- Heaven?
hahaha, well spotted!
I think that here she is looking like Big Bird from Sesame Street.
Reminds me of a small village girl coming to Bombay for a tour!
She is missing the torch in her hand if she was aiming for the Statue of Liberty look. Sorry, this is a no.
