Reception Style
In her signature maximalist avatar, Rekha attended a wedding reception on Thursday evening. As usual, she looked every bit of the diva she is.

Love the outfit, jewelry and her continuing signature style.
But the make up is absolutely terrible, a rare miss as she usually does it herself and does an awesome job even if its on the heavier side
iconic look.
Very Norma Desmond
She had worn this sari in a Chaugoshia style couple of years back..

There’s this one too – https://www.highheelconfidential.com/shared/content/uploads/2018/03/Rekha-And-Madhoo-At-Hello-Hall-Of-Fame-Awards-2018.jpg
I think she looks so much better in those two earlier outings because there is way less jewelry.
I know she’s got her own personal style, but here the make up and jewelry are too much, even for Rekha. It almost feels like she’s hiding behind fabric, makeup and jewelry.
Thank you for these two links. I love that Rekha, in her 70s, is still showing us how to do it — be sustainable, change it up, have fun with fashion. What she does may or may not be to one’s personal taste, but I’d like to see any one of us dissing us here have the same enthusiasm and spirit when we’re her age.
amazing I’d say, just wish she’d go easy on make up, and then the gold leafing look would stand out so good, but unbeatable on her.
I wish she would do a Netflix special on her kanchi sarees and jewellery!! I am sure each have a wonderful story to tell.
who getting married ?? Diva she is
I think she is the only woman who should be allowed to upstage the bride.
Upstaging of the bride…. this concept got me thinking.
Indian weddings have always been about communal celebrations…arranged marriages being the norm, the large extended families and friends of the bride and groom come together to bless the union. Its a fun and festive occasion to be enjoyed by one and all. All of the guests are dressed to the best of their abilities to be respectful to the hosts… they are invested enough to show up in their best.
Culturally, the wedding is not only about the bride in the Indian mileu. Sure, she needs to shine but every one is having their under the sun!
Agree totally, it’s a celebration for everyone involved!!! That’s how it’s been growing up, everyone shows up at weddings nicely dressed up in their best. We did not even have such a thought that guests outshined the bride or such. Those were the years shopping for clothes was driven by special occasions or festivals and all of us even got to buy new clothes (pattu paavadas or with vonis’s or pattu Sarees ) for close family weddings.
Maybe for the first time, I am seeing her in jewelry I dont recognize. Maybe it’s not hers? Even so, she looks great and I hope she gives us some interesting looks alongside her trademark look from the last 10 or so years.
OTT. Chill on the make up and jewellery…those sarees are stunning, you are stunning, no need to over do the accessories or the make up. You are a goddess as is.
