Rani attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Awards evening wearing a Sabyasachi sari with layered Chanel pearls. The contrast of the black and white sure was striking but I am on the fence about that featured border. She also attended a panel session wearing striped pantsuit but between the pants style and those chunky shoes, that outfit just wasn’t very flattering.

What a depressing looking saree! My vote goes to the pant suit whatever be the proportions!

The crow like Sabya saree is one ugly disservice to sarees and ages her a couple of decades. So heavy and downy

Black looks better, make up was so heavy though. The suit is better and needed better pants.
He sari would have looked better with one string of pearls or better no pearls at all. There is already too much going on with the sari.
Nothing against KJO but I am convinced he had a hand in what she is wearing, he looks terrible in the oversized clothes he wears too.
I don’t mind the sari at all on Rani. My expectations of her outfits are very minimal so this is already a step up in my opinion.
The saree looks good. Very striking look !! I love it.
She is one of the worst dressed, pity given that she is so pretty.
I have a bigger problem with her half up hair which ages her in the saree look. The blouse looks too suffocting and the makeup is heavy handed. Such a lost opportunity.
I like the suit outing better. Wish the pants fit better on her.
I think for the stage with all of those lights, a black sari would have been better in a different material that didn’t absorb all of the light – something glossy. Additionally, wrapping the pallu around her didn’t create the right silhouette that this couture look needed (she got it right in the 2nd pic). I can imagine this look being dynamite at a dimly lit cocktail party with old Hollywood hair. So great look – just worn at the wrong place.
