Radhika in Made in Heaven 2: Decoded

Comment image 15

Radhika plays one of the brides in Made In Heaven and is seen in a striped Kshitij Jalori and a Payal Khandwala shirt, one that she also wore with brocade pants back in 2021. The series seems to have been taped around then which makes me think she kept the brocade outfit. Her bridal look in a silk kanchi white and gold sari though was so striking. Loved it.

  1. WHAT does Kanchi silk “from Gaurang”mean???

Did Gaurang weave it in Kanchipuram? 🙂

Nalli and Sundari silks in Chennai have 1000s of better woven sarees for under Rs50 k

These sarees should have the weaver’s name and money should go to them.
    Not some overrated BW celebrity

    • In this case Gaurang is just a label. I feel it is no different from a sari that you source from Nalli or any other shop. Neither have the weaver’s name on it. What is different is the profit margin and how much of the selling price goes to the weaver or weaving community. The economics of this has many facets. Perhaps, we can do a post on it.

      • Sure I agree

But IMO there is nothing exclusive or extraordinary or extravagant about this “Gaurang creation”. Seems like “Gaurang bottled water”

It’s not a never before seen color or weave or pattern or craftsmanship!!

        Thanks

  2. Plus 1000! Plus it doesn’t look celebratory at all and is begging for some color and spendor. I can see a mother of the bride or a matriarch sporting this, think Waheeda Rehman, Asha bhonsle…. Not the bride. Looks very bland. And then the Kanchi silk tag mashed me chuckle. Not quite a glorious kanchi at all,

Liked her suit and brocade lehenga though.

Not for a Radhika apte bride. Looks very bland on her. And then the Kanchi silk tag makes me chuckle. Sorry, Not the glorious kanchi at all,

    • I don’t think the typos were the problem with your original post. India is a very diverse country and people dress in different ways for their weddings. Maybe it would be good to go beyond the specific idea of “brides” that you have. Just a thought.

    • Ironically that episode was about a Dalit bride trying to retain her own culture amidst her wedding ceremonies. Hence a Buddhist ceremony.

What we think of as “Indian bridal” is the result of Bollywood’s North influence and globalisation. Kerala of course always had cream and gold mundu. I had telugu friends who got married in cream, Gujaratis used to wear white and red, Marathi brides used to wear yellow etc. before Bollywood styles demanded that everyone look like a red pole with gold ornaments hanging off it.

Also Kanchi sarees come in all types, not all are Rekha type.

      • Yes so true this does look like any kanchi silk saree in this color combination.. plain cream brocade saree is the look of the Kerala bride .. it’s is no less celebratory or lacking in personality
