The Olay-Vogue Brunch

Source

That’s Preity Zinta looking mighty fine at the Olay-Vogue Brunch at Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, carrying a beautiful, droolworthy Hermes Birkin bag in an absolutely gorgeous shade of green! Pardon the cliche, but am envious… ‘green’ with envy, what else?!! (Ok, so her bangs are annoying but she’s carrying a bag in such a delectable color… am blind to everything else!)

And then there were three. Rahul Khanna, Gauri Khan and an unidentified lady in the middle. Gauri Khan looks totally washed out but it’s the lady in the middle that caught our attention for all reasons ‘bag’. You see what she’s carrying…? That’s a Bottega Veneta tote and we love.

Bag heaven.

Manish Arora’s Technicolor World

Source

Manish Arora’s collection: An absolute riot of colors. Kitschy. Pop influenced. Over the top. Technicolor swatch card. Loud. Quirky-glam. But the verdict? Thats yours to make!

More Of That Ikat

Look what Madeline Weinrib has done with Ikat. I absolutely love the furniture and the pillows that she has designed!

And how much fun is this Ikat pillow with a pop-spin giving it that unusual print!

Source

On an aside, Ikat is a style of weaving that uses a dyeing process similar to tie-dye before the threads are woven, to create a pattern or design. Ikat means “to tie” or “to bind” in the Malay language.

India, Japan and several South-East Asian countries have cultures with long histories of Ikat production (among other things), and Double Ikats can still be found in India, Guatemala, Japan and the Indonesian islands of Bali and Kalimantan!

In fact, a Double Ikat from Gujrat, used to be exported to Indonesia for the use of the royal families. And if you were to look, the striking similarities between Double Ikats produced in Bali, Indonesia and those in Gujrat are hard to miss.

Oh, and the Double Ikat from Gujrat? Also known as Patola. Ring a bell?

Weaving a small world after all?

Anything you can do, I can do better?

Was Mandira Bedi thinking that if Malaika can do it, Mandira can do it better?

I think you and me both agree! That is a BIG NO!!!!!!

Piggy Chops And Then Some

Thats Priyanka Chopra at an event where she had to meet the Spice Mobile Contest winners!

Source

Two questions though, one, was she given a brief stating that since the background was going to be predominantly blue, she had to wear it too, and second, has Bollywood patented the side-swept hair look?

And that ill-fitting dress, oh my goodness! Had I been one of the contest winners, I would have run for the hills! That dress just added a tire or two!

Miss Piggy Chops needs to have a long and hard talk with her stylist.
