LFW Winter/Festive 2010: Shrivannarresh

Shrivan Narresh’s collection almost had a sense of no-nonsense-I-mean-business sort of femininity. While the clothes seemed futuristic, the styling seemed retro (Hello turban/headgear!) and, while the exaggerated architectural elements screamed Jetsons, the swimsuits had one longing for the Riviera.

We quite like this designer duo and found their collection to be a great mix of ready-to-wear pieces and those perfect for Editorial shoots.

Same Ole’, Same Ole’

Where fashion is concerned, Priyanka’s pretty much still in her minis-with-sandals phase. In five appearances, she departed from the usual once (yes, yes we being a tad bit sarcastic!) by wearing a white romper with tan sandals, a look I quite liked. (Perhaps, because it wasn’t another dress.)

Just wish Ms. Chopra would take more risks when it came to fashion. At this point, it feels like am looking at a mannequin whose clothes are changed everyday. I say mannequin because even her hair stays the exact same for every appearance.

P.S. Priyanka is wearing the Louboutin Anna Strasse sandals in the first pic and the Jimmy Choo Glitter sandals in that last pic.

LFW Winter Festive 2010: Nachiket Barve

Just like his last collection, Nachiket’s new collection ‘Magpie’ was rich in 3-d texturing and tie-dye. Floral appliques featured predominantly throughout the collection that consisted of dresses, maxis and jackets. Also present were saris and churidar kurtas, a first for the designer.

We love Nachiket’s designs for their relaxed silhouettes made sexy by way of color and texturing and this collection didn’t digress from that. Love the wrap purple kurta and the orange cutout circle dress!

In Nachiket Barve

Jaya Bachchan was spotted in a Nachiket Barve sari while taking in the designer’s (Nachiket Barve) show.

We loved this sari, his first ever (sari) apparently. Mrs. B looked absolutely lovely in it and this is one of those saris I see working on women across ages. We’d buy it in a heartbeat! 😉

LFW Winter Festive 2010: Anupamaa

You may remember seeing ‘Bronze Begum’, the bridal collection by Anupama Dayal. That’s because we first saw Delhi ladies Tanisha and Witty model some (may we add badly styled) at a preview event.

On the runway though, it was a different story. Styled to perfection, the models walked out wearing vibrant colors worn during the Mughal era, which also was Anupama’s inspiration. There were saris, lehengas, full skirts, anarkalis in rich fabrics like jacquards, silks, georgettes made even richer with gotta, zardozi and metallic embellishments. Am simply in awe of the work on the pink kameez in the last row.
