LFW Winter Festive 2012: Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre closed out day three of LFW with a collection titled “Urban Goddess” consisting of indo-western silhouettes using traditional weaves and ikat prints. While her Resort collection had more flared dress, this collection was more into a fitted look with pencil skirts and cigarette pants with the occasional maxis that have become a trademark. We’re sure to see the collection off the runway soon. It’s just a question of when.

Like Pernia, Anita also presented her only traditional look via her showstopper Preeti Desai wearing a white and gold lehenga.

LFW Winter/Festive 2012: Priyadarshini Rao

There was a lot to take in with Priyadarshini Rao’s latest presentation. Considering her previous showings, this relatively glitzy showing sure came as a surprise. And not all surprises are of the pleasant kind. The vast line-up felt a wee bit repetitive after a point and while there were many looks that stood out, they almost felt over-crowded to really be memorable.

LFW Winter Festive 2012: Gaurang

It was a burst of rich colors at the Gaurang show, the collection which was titled ‘Ardhagini’. Salwar suits, saris and lehengas presented in a colorblocked scheme sure made an impression with us. Showstopper Kirron Kher chose to pick a more demure sari to walk down the runway, which we thought was quite appropo.

LFW Winter/Festive 2012: Wendell Rodricks

The designer’s collection titled ‘Timeless’ was classic Wendell Rodricks. The term DeBo is often loosely bandied about but this Goa based designer has it down pat. Clean, fluid lines, masterful draping and clever use of vibrant colors, all very apparent.

LFW Winter Festive 2012: Shruti Sancheti

The nomadic theme in Shruti Sancheti’s collection, “Thar“, was apparent right off the bat especially with the layering and the use of jewellery. Using Shibori tie/dye as a backdrop, the outfits were accentuated with Kutch stitchwork.
