Matthew Williamson, Spring 2013

India sure is the toast of Spring ’13. While Marchesa and Vera Wang drew inspiration from India in New York, Matthew Williamson referenced the country in his collection presented during London Fashion Week.

Prints referencing Holi, Nehru jackets (in tweed), embellishments and embroidery, saturated colors… His nod to his inspiration was hard to miss. All while the collection was quintessentially Matthew Williamson.

My favorite(s)? All of Row One.

In Sailex

While the length (of the dress) worked perfectly on Candice, on Narmada the dress fell neither here nor there. Also, wearing the dress with a black clutch and black sandals wouldn’t have been our pick. We would’ve gone either/or.

How are you liking Narmada in this Sailex?

In Zara

For her movie’s music launch, Preity opted for a Zara peplum dress. A pair o’ pink pumps and a BV stretch knot (clutch) finished out her look.

She looked good.

P.S: You may recall seeing a version of this Zara dress on Sonakshi Sinha here.

Bibhu Mohapatra, Spring 2013

Bibhu Mohapatra delivered another collection that was rich in cocktail and evening-wear. And we are bound to have celeb sightings in a dress or two. Our favorites however were the printed pieces. A print that referenced a butterfly’s metamorphosis and use of rich saturated color to offset it (the print) was a hit. Love that entire Row Two.

Vera Wang, Spring 2013

Marchesa wasn’t the only one to draw its inspiration from India for Spring 2013. Vera Wang did too, in a far more subtler way however. By way of colors, textures, fabrics and technique, the collection referenced India.

Loved the Chantilly lace, sheer-hem dresses; those gorgeous lil’ numbers need to be seen on this side of the pond.
