In Gauri and Nainika

In her neon green Gauri and Nainika jumpsuit, Lisa brought quite the brightness to the red carpet. While I liked the pairing of the wooden Rachana Reddy clutch, a pair of subtle gold sandals would’ve worked much better here than the platform peep-toes she had on.

I also wish her she’d worn coral earrings instead of the emerald and diamond earrings she had on. They clash with the outfit. What say you?

In Badgley Mischka

The Retail Jeweller India Awards saw Yami in a purple Badgley Mischka gown that was worn with jewellery from Nazraana. If you like me went “what jewellery?”, you weren’t alone.

With the limp hair and the lack of statement jewellery, her look was rather lackluster.

A gown like that needed more, a whole lot more. Stacked diamond bangles or statement emerald rings would’ve really added some punch to the look.

India Couture Week 2014: Manish Malhotra

A lot of gold and mirror work dominated Manish Malhotra’s Couture collection which consisted of his signature lehengas and floor-length anarkalis.

Some of the pieces were exquisite, especially the embroidered ones, but some also had fit issues. But, we know that won’t stop our celebs from sporting a few of the opulent designs right away.

What do you think of the collection?

Front Row Fashion

Wearing Manish Malhotra, Huma and Urmila attended the designer’s Couture show in Delhi today with both wearing floor-length anarkalis.

We already weren’t fans of the stark white embroidery against the maroon but what made things worse for Huma were the finishing touches. The open hair, the lip color and worst of all, the black pumps.

Sure, Urmila fared a bit better in her ornate gown but the sleeves looked a bit odd. Or maybe it is these pics.

India Couture Week 2014: Manish Arora

As much as it is part of the designer’s aesthetic, look past the ott styling for a minute. Then put aside your notion of kitsch. Now look at the clothes, just the clothes. Nuanced and wonderful, we were captivated by Manish Arora’s presentation at Couture Week. Yes, it lacks the quiet, earthy sensuality of a Sabyasachi woman or the feminine, flirty romanticism of the Manish Malhotra woman but what it does pack by the bagfuls is strength. And a whole lot of personality. Can’t wait to see some of those dresses off the runway. Stat!
