In Self-Portrait

At the screening of her movie, Katrina was seen in a black Self-Portrait ribbed dress paired with ankle-strap pumps and diamond earrings. I might be in the minority but the multiple bow strips on the side made the design look cheap rather than chic.

Dress design aside, Katrina, however, did look nice here.

  1. The things with some of these dresses is that one needs to match the edginess of the dress with the make up, hair and/or accessories. Kat doesnt do that and ends up in a mutton-lamb situation. Inadvertently, she looks like she is trying to dress young when that’s actually not the case at all. She’s young, she’s fit but the lack of effort in the other areas take away from her looks.

    • What are you even talking about? From which angle does this look like mutton dressed as lamb? I guess
Kat goes for a sexy yet approachable, girl next door look. She is a movie star, at a the screening of her own film & clothes are very much part of an image she wants to portray to her audience.

    • I absolutely agree! The dress required a bit more edge to carry it, a bit more personality..while Kat rocks some dresses, some dresses just fall flat on her..as the other comment said she looks elegant..simple and elegant..not what this dress deserved

    • Totally disagree with what sounds like a classic ageist comment in a completely irrelevant setting. Kat is one of the few who has stuck to her lovely style and we rarely see her in bolly brigade teen styles.

  2. I like her in the dress and think it’s one of her more edgier looks. Having said, that never been a fan of Self-Portrait. Their dresses always look like cheap knockoffs to me and it’s difficult for even Katrina or Kate Middleton to salvage them.

  3. The styling as usual is a dampener. As a designer I’d find it so frustrating that she manages to turn an edgy fun design into a boring sterile affair

  4. The dress itself has too many risqué elements going on, from the neckline to the peephole to the lace sides and then the bows. Agree with the first commentator, this could’ve been salvaged only with campy accessorization.

    • Usually such dresses have a nude cloth under the black lace. So, it’s fine! Kat has never really ventured into the risqué territory so am sure she is appropriately dressed inside and outside!

And I think she looks amazing and is sticking to her stylish minimalist style aesthetic!
