Sari Style

On Saturday, Karisma helped inaugurate a store in Jaipur wearing a linen sari from the store. Considering how hot it already is in the city, the sari and the sleeveless blouse made for a practical yet perfect look.

You won’t find us complaining.

    • ah, so you prefer a starched, pinned up look. fair enough. that still doesn’t mean the easy, no-pins drape, no stiff-pallu that other women prefer is shabby. shabby implies an unkempt, couldn’t-care-less, pile-on-anything appearance. no way do Nandita or Kiran’s looks fall under that category.

    • Hey Moni. Agreed. Saris are worn by millions of women across India with so much panache. I still would like to think Nandita’s looks are more simple & carefree rather than shabby. While if you see Vidya Balan(waiting for the -“oh she is a great actor, she doesnt care” fans to bring out their claws) though she sports “great” designers like Sabyas & “statement” necklaces & so called designer elements. Her drape, her hair , the uncomfortable stance always end up looking shabby/unkempt. I like the way Nandita still owns her looks. Karisma is a different league, her style has been classy & elegance over a decade now. She proves it with this simple yet elegant look. <3

    • Agree with every word you said. She has perhaps shaped fashion sensibilities for every 90s kid. I really do feel she’s the best dressed Hindi film actress ever. Better than sonam since Sonam usually replicates runway looks completely while Karisma really brought the fashion game to Bollywood and changed how the quintissential Hindi film heroine dressed with Dil Toh Pagal Hai, and all her subsequent movies. She truly was ahead of her times and some of her outfits in her movies back then are in vogue even today!
So for me, she’s the eternal style icon of Bollywood.
