As others have pointed out, the pieces by themselves are not standouts. It’s just the way she’s put them together — plus those Mary Janes — that’s the epitome of chic. No one can beat her at that game.
When I think of those hideous costumes in her early movies I wonder how she preserved this aesthetic!
