For promotions of her movie, Janhvi attended a dahi handi ceremony on Janmashtami wearing an ornate crop top and white skirt which I guess is supposed to mimic the kasavu color combo in relation to her character who is from Kerala.
For a sorta religious festival, to me this outfit felt so very inappropriate. Just me feeling that way?

Even if we were to overlook the inappropriateness of public appearances, it’s so unsettling to see these privileged stars focusing only on promotions. In-character costumes and jewels can never compensate for an authentic performance delivered *before* the PR machine starts rolling.
They’re also losing out, most have had a 5-10 yrs career but already forgotten…
Look at the graceful lady in golden ensemble right next to janvi in the third picture…
My eyes are immediately drawn towards her.

If you want to make the blouse as the eye piece for centre of attention, at least get the fit right.
Look at the shoddy alteration job, especially visible in the second set of photos.
You will have the liberal police coming after you for questioning her outfit. Apparently, she’s supposed to be expressing herself and women should not be questioned for their outfit choices.
90% of 30 some things in Bollywood today are are in Jhanvi’s cadre. Clueless and horribly dressed. The dingbats around them that market movies and promote events are even more stupid if that’s even possible.
Her utterly terrible Malayalam accent in the movie seems like native Malayalam compared to this outfit! SMH

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this dress. The judgemental aunties in the comments are sexualising her for absolutely no reason. Her stylists chose this dress for her. “She’s trying to show off her figure” & all the nasty comments coming from women themselves is very regressive and disappointing. These women are proof why Indian will remain a backward country.
We are talking about the event appropriateness of the outfit. And stylists don’t always get it right.
So we move forward with forcibly tight and bare clothing for women?

Showing off your body and appearing hot at a community event when everyone else is more suitably dressed is disrespectful
