It was so awesome to be backstage with Sabya himself and to see what goes on behind the scenes…
We found this exchange between the models and Sabya really interesting… He wanted them to go out on the runway with a more natural look sans makeup… He wanted just a light kohl and a natural look. The models were worried about being sent on the runway without a base (foundation). It was really endearing to see him all for the “natural”.

He seems so sweet and gentle.. Do hope I get to meet the man some day. How he comes up wtih the colors/designs and combinations is mind-boggling.. He reminds me of Roark’s character in The Fountainhead – he makes clothes that work wtih a woman’s natural features…

Sabya’s awesome. I love that everything about him spells “no-need-to-try-too-hard.” I think we have a lot to learn from this kind of simplicity and the kind of earthy-glam he creates. Move over, MM and the rest of the contrived bwood styles!
