In Prabal Gurung

The Met Gala theme was about black dandyism: men who used fashion as a way to express themselves and Diljit took that and went above and beyond with it in his custom Prabal Gurung with jewels from Golecha and Cartier. Maximalist and yet true to his Punjabi roots as evident by the custom embroidery on his cape reflecting the state of Punjab and punjabi words which am hoping someone can decode for me.

Loved it from head to toe!

  1. Agreed – can’t take my eyes off him and I don’t even understand the hype about him. He definitely stands out!

  2. This look has been inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder singh of Patiala. The letters in Punjabi are Punjabi alphabets. Nailed it. He came n he conquered it

  3. Dandy for sure- desi for certain – in the end he looks great. Most of the women were dressed in whatever so he wore something that he might not be able to wear anywhere else –

  4. While Diljit does stand out and look absolutely Met-gala worthy, once I saw the bad tailoring on the yoke I just can’t unsee it. How is this approved by a top designer like Prabal Gurung?

  5. He is looking Regal and giving true meaning to our cultural heritage by highlighting our traditional wear …the outfits worn by the maharajas who are a part of our rich history that is considered the oldest in the world…and WHY NOT …why ape the west when we can flaunt what we have …classy and how…

  7. This guy is so rooted and authentic to his origins…I love that he represented himself to the core. Plus to see a maharaja on the red carpet was thrilling to me. Where else but the MET can someone wear this and who else but Diljit who can wear this and wear it like a king!! Kudos.
