In Sabyasachi
Deepika will be presenting at the BAFTA Film awards in London and was seen walking the red carpet in a sequin cream Sabyasachi sari. The makeup that looked great in the IG pics felt a bit lackluster in actual pics. Just me feeling that way? She wore it well but this outing didn’t feel like a jaw dropping moment. Even with the sequins, it felt plain and I blame the makeup.

For me, it’s the hairdo. Doesn’t go with he cocktail sari.
This could’ve been a fun look had she let her hair loose in tousled waves (& a smile).
This is a beautiful look- glam yet simple. No gimmicks but accentuates her height and beautiful face. Not too much bling or excessive make up. Very effective – well done!
I completely agree
After having seen images of Cate Blanchett in a resplendent marsala silhouette at the BAFTAs red carpet, this look pales quite literally in comparison. This could have been worn at any random event in Mumbai. Did Sabyasachi or her stylist for that matter even bother to go deep into the brand’s catalogue to see if something more stunning could be chosen?
Would you have been ok if this was a different color? I think Cate looked Horrible, yes, with a capital H! Many of the others did not do much better. Deepika looks lovely – she’s owning the look, not drowning in anything – and it’s comfortable to boot. I think diamond earrings would have upped the glam quotient but she’s fine as is. And kudos for wearing a saree.
You are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to think that Cate served in that marsala gown. As far as Deepika is concerned, the color, the lack of details, the whole look is a mess. The saree itself is rather pedestrian and regular Manish Malhotra wedding/event fare. Surely there are far better sarees out there – she could have taken a leaf out of Alia’s recent appearance in Saudi Arabia. This is a hot mess, in my opinion.
Why must she be compared to Cate or Alia or anyone? Can’t we just critique someone solely on the clothes they are wearing?
Yes, I agree, we are all entitled to our own opinions, and I did not like Cate’s look at all, and quite liked Deepika’s.
Because she is walking the red carpet at an awards. This isn’t an individual event like a store opening or airport sighting. Fashion has always seen comparisons with the best dressed lists and fashion police when it comes to awards shows.
She is not nominated. Just presenter from outside of the Hollywood. I would say color makeup, and understated elegance is always better than loud looks when you are just a presenter or jury. She looks great and elegant and did the job well.
She looks sweet – Maybe jewelry in colour navy would have nicely offset the white.
I agree that the makeup makes her look dull.
She looks great (but when does she not) but color me disappointed. If she was going the saree way to stand out from the gown clutter, am sure Sabya has far more exciting designs than this one, which could have been churned out by MM (sacrilege!).
She looks good n that’s credit to her .. but this look required some pop of color .. it’s too one toned and the dull makeup isn’t helping
The team around her could have done a better job.
All it’s missing is an oxblood lip. But as is it’s still beautiful.
This look definitely needs some color or extra jewelry – a bold lip, a chunky necklace/bracelet or something.
Or the saree should’ve been a different color.
Her face does all the talking. How nice that it’s an Indian designer and a saree worn conventionally.
I beg to disagree, this is a very simple yet impactful look.
Very drab and lacklustre outing. She looks classy and elegant as always though
She looked stunning at the event, graceful and her personality shone and it had nothing to do with the clothes at all… the saree seemed to just serve as a backdrop for her natural self.
I am actually liking this look. Isnt it okay not to add color all the time?
This saree has been done on her so many times but if it’s not broken why take it away? It’s classic deepika. The beauty department did not do her any justice, it didn’t translate well on screen.
So graceful!
IG pics are highly edited .. in event videos she looks very dull. She has worn white before to Cannes etc, this time the Make-up was major let down , at least a brighter lip was needed.
The hairdo also looked bad in profile pics, a sleek open hairstyles wid have been refreshing.
Remove Earing.
Add nose Ring.
Remove Pumps
Add open toe sandals with minimal detailing
Add stack of bracelets
Loose wavy hair.
Done.
She’s looking stunning!
Listen she is beautiful but this look, the hair, the saree is rather a dated look for her. It lacks magic. It also washed her out completely in the red carpet lighting. Its just fine but if you’re walking major award circuit red carpet, one expects better.
The issue for me is the very pale, almost gray lipstick. I’ve always had an issue with Deepika’s overdone brows and gray lips..just my personal opinion
I think it just lacks the “X” factor, although elegant. Probably some colour with accessories would have helped and swapping out those pumps.
I’m liking the restrained look however wish the saree wasn’t so run of the mill
