In Sabyasachi
Deepika visited the Ganesh pandal at Lalbaughcha Raja on Wednesday evening wearing a Sabaysachi sari with jewellery also by the designer. The earrings felt a bit overkill here.
Catch a full-length of her here.

OTT. Looks like what I would wear to someone’s wedding, both the saree and the earrings.
Looks like what I’d wear in my wedding lol
lol
Would have liked simple gold jhumkis with this saree. Don’t really like the curated Sabha look with the OTT earrings. Mixing and matching accessories is better – even if the earrings aren’t Sabha how does it matter as long as they complement the saree
I agree!
Sabya has talked about venturing into jewellery to avoid a contamination of the Sabyasachi aesthetic. These earrings are completely unnecessary. Everything doesn’t have to be bridal.
A beautiful sari though on a beautiful lady.
something even sabhya can’t salvage.
don’t mind the earrings — it’s the only jewellery she’s wearing. the saree is a bit OTT but the way she’s draped it, it’s not on show, just a dressy saree worn for a puja.
Looks like she attending lord shiva and parvati wedding
Lol!
Earrings are over shadowing even the embroidered heavy saree. The heavy saree, the way pallu is draped, and the rich blouse are making the look so suffocating for a festival.
Deepika Padukone please just lighten up that’s when you shine the most.
Ummm so kangana necklace was festival appropriate but deepikas ear rings are overkill? How does that work?
That’s exactly what was wondering! I loved both sarees and thought both jewelry items were unnecessary. But to see one person being praised an defended by people saying “dont expect western looks, this is festive and appropriate ” and the other one being trashed is bizzare.
Pandals make you shine.
First Kangana, now Deepika.
LHS = RHS
Hence proved.
Thank you.
Let’s all observe a moment of silence for Deepika’s ears.
heheeh…when i was younger i wore these heavy earring and now that i am in my late 30’s i so totally regret that…just not worth it!
This perfect for a wedding
is*
Let’s just say it, Deepika isn’t making it work and it is alright.
So, people, there are no hairstyles that go with a saree other than oily, tight bun?
Earrings are awful…takes the look into bridal territory instantly.
Also, are the stars given clothes for every occasion now or they pick pieces from their personal wardrobe. Somehow being given clothes to showcase by a designer for a puja feels wrong…
Rumours have it since quite some time about how sabya has been conditioning that his clothes be styled with the jewellery he makes.
But then we have seen alia sonam ambanis not stickibg to it, so don’t know how true it is
Don’t have a problem with this look until I realise it was probably just a 1 hour show up for Darshan. But looks like she has a stylist crew of minimum 5 people back home fr every time she’d step out.
I dont mind the earrings… the tight hair could have been changed up. Looser bun. This sari she has worn before to her dad’s felicitation. That time also same hair but with round stud earrings
IT’S NOT THE SAME SARI
ootd aunty feelsss yuck
Too much for a pandal visit…This is a wedding look. What’s up with these bolly brigade? earlier it was just Diwali, now they are dressing up like its their own wedding for Ganesh Chaturthi too. Major FOMO these peeps have.
Takes me back to the “let’s have a moment of silence for Deepika’s earlobes” memes! ?
I dont get the pancake makeup, heavy saris and heavy jewellery combo for a Ganesh Chaturthi Pandal! esp when these stars are juxtaposed with people who stand for hours in the line while they breeze through, is just jarring!
Kiski shaadi mein ja rahi ho behen?
The saree yes the hairdo no
Perfectly good banarsi sari, ruined by that Gota border. Why are these called ‘sabya’, saris?
Oh good lord why does DP think this oily, flattened centre-parted hairstyle that sadly accentuates her sticking out ears, combined with giant earrings the size of her face, is a good look for her ?
And yes, whatever happened to just picking out a sari from your personal wardrobe to wear to a puja? Why must every look be so curated? DP, you’re South Indian – why don’t you ever showcase the glory of South Indian saris ?? As a South Indian, I feel very strongly about this – our Bolly ladies from the South almost seem to feel ashamed about their origins. The only exception of course is Rekha, but the less said about her kanjeevarams, the better.
chipku hair trend needs to go pronto!
The Sabya look accompanied with the standard issue hairdo
Thank goodness for the pulled back hair, at least it keeps her face clean… wish the earrings were smaller othewise would not change anything with this look.
