In Sabyasachi

Deepika was seen in two Sabyasachi saris recently, first in a Kanjeevaram paired with a floral full-sleeved blouse and then in a colorful chiffon one paired with a blue sleeveless sequin blouse.

Of the two much preferred her in the chiffon. You?

  1. Is neither an option? The Kanjeevaram is gorgeous but the blouse ruins it for me (I get contrast but this just looks like a random pick). And the chiffon saree is a throwback to the tackiest bling from the 1960s …sad how styling can ruin it!

  2. I like both sarees. The chiffon reminds me of the Garden Vareli ads from the 90s starring Aishwarya Rai and Lisa Ray. The height of glamour to a little me 🙂 The choker with the green saree takes away from the look I think. I get maximalism but there’s always an extra element in typically styled Sabyasachi looks that could easily have been edited out.

    • I heard the music from those ads in my head when I saw the sari too! 🙂 The flying saris, the sensuous drapes and the mesmerizing music. I might have to look up those ads and the Bombay Dyeing ones with Karan Kapoor now. A wasted hour on youTube is calling out to me ?

  3. Print on print is a thing now. We get it. But brown blouse with that gorgeous kanjeevaram saree is bringing the look down. If she really wanted to go with contrasting patterns, just wish she had picked a blouse in color similar to Keerthy Suresh had worn few days back. Also no middle-parted hair do in both the Sabya saree outings. That’s a welcome change 🙂 https://www.highheelconfidential.com/keerthy-suresh-in-sabyasachi-at-national-film-awards-2019/

  4. The green Kanjivaram is just styled by Sabyasachi. Don’t understand how it can be called a Sabyasachi design. Same way he did with the Angadi store Kanjivaram sarees during her wedding. Only the blouse and jewellery are his.

    She looks gorgeous in both!!

  5. The jewellery selection is really off..the earrings with the chiffon saree look so damn cheap. And the jewellery with the silk saree is also similarly tacky!

They are both pretty sarees which could have potentially looked quite nice; but unfortunately, they are a right hot MESS!

  6. She looks like a vision to me in the chiffon. Love the colours on her along with the jewellery and the soft do. She looks beautiful! Hard to get my eyes off her!!
Don’t like the silk as much primarily because of the makeup (her eyes look harsh and wax-statue kind). The blouse too is bringing the look down! That look is quite dull.

  7. Love both ! She looks great in sarees BUT i really wish her and other Indian celebrities would start wearing bright colors on their lips. It just really elevates a look imo. And in this case the sequined saree would look soooo good with a fuschia lip color

  8. No way! I love the Kanjeevaram by Sabya! When I saw it on Deepika’s insta, I was like I need to have that in my collection! If only I could afford it! Lol! I would have preferred a traditional kanjeevaram blouse! But the sari? Le sigh!

  9. Love the green silk sari …. printed chiffon is meh , like the one Alia wore recently. She looks too thin in the chiffon. Whereas the silk sari drapes perfectly on her statuesque frame.

  10. How is Sabyasachi a ‘designe’? You can buy the same ‘designer’ sari at any sari shop. The blouse with Kanchipuram is tacky and detracts from the overall look. The only saving grace is Deepika’s beautiful face

  11. See the change of hairstyle can do wonders. She looks so fresh n youthful, specially in first four pics. As for sarees, chiffon one looks like one from early 2000’s worn by Komolika from Kasauti. Silk saree is typical ‘designer’ one, procured from weavers n then Sabya border attached to it.

  12. Isn’t it illegal for designers like Sabyasachi to claim Kanjeevaram sarees as their own designs.Kanjeevaram sarees have geographical indication by govt of India, they can only be produced in Kanchipuram. When it’s clearly designed and produced by weavers of Kanchipuram, how can designers like Sabyasachi lay claim on them ??? And shouldn’t bloggers like HHC know about this and call designers out ??

    • I completely agree with Tirtha. HHC, You should have known better to give credit to those who deserve. How is the kanchipuram sari a “Sabya” saree? Or even Gaurang sarees? Whether the”designer” tags and names are attached or not, these sarees are a beauty and they have tons of buyers. Let’s not be unethical in giving false credits.

    To answer your question….
The lobbyists for dejyners and movie stars and celebrities are far more powerful than those impoverished veshti clad weavers in Pillayarpalayam Kanchipuram

No celebrity wants to be endorsing a lowly veshti clad weaver

They would rather kiss up to a phony Bong talentless scammer

P&P must have been directed to follow the orders

    • So true …I know the jeweller /karigar who supplies jewelry to sabya ….he comes to bangalore once a year he sells his jewelry to goenkas and kishan das and sreeraj Hyderabad …they are his karigar designs …beautiful stuff …these guys buy it from him and take the credit for the design …really shamefull..and they sell it for 1/ 3 of the price….I can proudly say I own sabyasachi jewelry before sabyasachi created them lol…

    Don’t worry
Soon they will credit Sabya with inventing Kanjeevaram or even better……
    Handloom…

Bollywood will start tweeting about how Sabya should get a Nobel for such an invention:P

Such is the power of celebrity and social media:P

  15. The print saree required a yellow blouse, not this blue one here. Rest looks perfect and fresh.
The kanjivaram was beautiful in itself but that unnecessary choker is killing the vibe.

  16. for a second i thought she had a purple pom pom on her right ear/ shoulder (Pic1). A closer looked proved it was the sweater of a by stander!

  17. I wish Deepika / stylist would source more local / non-designer brands, or even go the extra mile to source unique textiles made by women in remote parts of India. Maybe not for every promotional look but at least for some; given the theme of the movie especially, it would be really fitting to highlight the work of these artisans instead of doing same ol’ Sabya for every Indian outfit. It is almost lazy styling at this point.

  18. Oh my my, Deepika looks so much better in both the looks. I cant believe she is the same one who was sported in that hideous corset look. This way, she is so beautiful.

  19. Love both her looks! She rocks them! As far as the comments on the Kanjeevaram saree… please HHC get your facts right. It is a benaras saree and not Kanjeevaram. I agree with all the comments about how Sabya can adopt this as his own when these are looms that have existed 1000s of years prior. I can only say that even in Kanchi…some looms and designs are curated by a designer using the old techniques and weaves… he may have done that. In addition, he always adds to these sarees be it a simple border or an enhanced pallu. While I disagree with his pricing for these sarees… I can see why/how he does what he does. he is reviving these weaves and adding this own signature on them (as little or as more as you may think). I love the addition of the printed blouse… have seen this in different combinations and all look very unique. As far as the multi-coloredsaree… it is a fun take on a garden vareli saree. Deepika looks heavenly in both sarees… this girl can do no wrong to me.
