WLIFW Spring 2013: Preeti Jhawar, Rajdeep Ranawat, Abhi Singh

Multiple Fashion Weeks mean multiple designers get a chance to show their designing chops to the industry. Here’s your peek at three more designers…

Preeti Jhawar

Few wearable dresses aside, nothing really to gush over. Wasn’t especially fond of the Indian-wear presented.

Rajdeep Ranawat

Rajdeep Ranawat’s collection ‘Santorini’ like the name suggests, drew inspiration from the Mediterranean city. Digital prints of baroque influences, florals and the city itself were used throughout the collection. The collection may have checked all the right boxes in the inspiration check-list but the collection didn’t evoke any of the romanticism that the city does.

Abhi Singh

Inspired by ‘Monolithic Skyscrapers’, Abhi Singh presented a collection that was draped, contoured and heavy on the fringe.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Soltee By Sulakshana Monga, Divyam Mehta, Prama By Pratima Pandey

Here’s a quick peek at three designers from WLIFW…

Soltee By Sulakshana Monga

Am sure to some, this collection may just be what they were on the look out for. To others, not so much. Like me. Borrowed from Project Runway, I have only two words- Questionable taste.

Divyam Mehta

Divyam Mehta’s collection had some dresses and separates in a monochromatic color palette with crochet appliqué as accents. Wearable, yes. Impressive, not very.

Prama By Pratima Pandey

The use of prints, fabrics and layering, it was all interesting. I quite liked this collection, both for its earthy appeal and wearability.

In Twos

Alia went with black for two back-to-back appearances. At the magazine issue/cover launch, she looked pretty sweet but I have to admit while I like the pop of pink, not a fan of the sandals themselves. Also not one to usually dig voluminous, puffy dresses like the one that Alia picked for the Bachchan do but have to say, she sure worked it. Looked good! Of the two, that’d be my pick. You?

Of Gowns

Also in attendance at the Bachchan do was Sridevi in a red gown. Hair worn up, a kundan necklace and McQueen clutch completed her look. She looked fantastic!

P.S: Anyone know who she is wearing? The gown looks so familiar!

WLIFW Spring 2013: Shivan & Narresh

Inspired by the work of abstract expressionist painter Barnett Newman, Shivan and Narresh presented a collection that was color-blocked perfection. No-fuss, very sleek and, just the right nod to Fifties and Sixties without getting too costume-y or gimmicky. Not much to dislike about this collection.
