WLIFW Spring 2013: Am:Pm

Am not sure what I want more, to see some of these looks worn off the runway or have them magically make their way in to my closet. Ankur & Priyanka Modi’s collection definitely stood out! Loved the graphic color palette and the use of print. Drawing inspiration from Mesoamérica, the use of iconography sure was well done.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Dev R Nil

This was an easy collection to like with it’s adorable prints (hearts, honeycombs), fun color-palette and seemingly light and breezy clothes. Dresses definitely stood out in this presentation and hopefully we get to see ’em off the runway.

WLIFW Spring 2013: James Ferreira

James Ferreira is masterful at playing with drapes and some of the looks presented were a clear evidence of that. The soft subdued florals were interesting, as was the use of Indian kitsch. Most have the tendency to go the colorful, ott route when going kitschy, so this sure made for an interesting change. Where the designer did lose me, was over the striped designs. They just didn’t feel like they belonged in the same collection.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Kavita Bhartia

While some pieces worked, the collection wasn’t much to write home about. Does anyone else feel as though over the past few seasons, the designer has lost her mojo? The last time I really loved Kavita Bhartia’s work was her Fall 08 presentation. It’s been a while since.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Atsu

Atsu’s was one of the strongest collections of the day. Young, chic and so fresh. Which reminds me… While referring to Carven as Fresh, Guillaume Henry (of Carven) elaborated on Fresh being not the question of age, but a question of identity in an interview. Perfectly put, don’t you think? And quite apt for Atsu too.
