In Anita Dongre
Bela, who is the chief content officer of Netflix, attended the Golden Globe awards wearing an Anita Dongre lehenga but paired the choli with a white silk shirt to give it a fusion look. I don’t think the bindi was needed here but it wasn’t a deal breaker either. I just loved seeing an Indian label on the red carpet.

Why does it look culturally appropriated on a person of Indian origin??!!
The lehenga is gorgeous and makes a statement even when left alone in its original form. She should have worn it without the white shirt.
Can relate, sometimes you don’t want to feel bare so you cover all that bling up. And sometimes you don’t want to wrangle a dupatta around. Definitely the choli on its own would’ve been better. it could’ve been customized for a more covered up look and still stayed true to the design. Also, if going the shirt route was non negotiable , maybe a sheerer version and not so stark white , a cream or beige short would have looked nicer IMO.
the whole lehnga with white shirt look is played out. just wear it with the choli and dupatta already
I think a nice satin shirt would have looked nice or even black
White looks very stark in contrast ..
Payal work your so magic
Love the fusion look and i liked the bindi too. And plus 1 to what you say in spotting an Indian design on the red carpet
there’s no fusion i see, looks absurd.. you can do this styling and look in any western pant suit, why bother a lehenga. loved it on model.
Dislike that specific bindi. Was not needed at all; agreed on that . If she/ the stylists, thought it a must , a simpler round red or black bindi would have been a better pick. Is it just me or the ponytail did not have to be that severe? Still a pull back , hair off the face look but with gentler grip would’ve looked better. Even better would’ve been a braid of some style that suits her lovely face structure. Overall , just the face and hair is making her look older. not that it’s a bad thing. not age shaming anyone.
I think she rocks the look!
Def nice to see Indian wear on the RC. Few edits that I think would have elevated this look:
– Earrings with a small drop (nothing to compete with the necklace)
– Light pink topaz drops instead of pearls in her choker-necklace
– less severe hair even though I usually love severe hair. Or a low ponytail instead of this pageant hair.
– Skip the white shirt or at least worn a sheer silk white shirt with the tiniest bit of work to connect the lehenga with the shirt.
Definitely*
this would have looked so impactful, left as is .. the shirt with open buttons makes it look sloppy and neither here not there .
Looks good for international red carpet without looking costumey. As you said it would have been better without the bindi.
she could wear a lehnga choli and fit right in with all the other ‘Scandinavian summer’ looks people are wearing. Nothing costume about it. If she’s afraid to be Indian she could just skip the the dupatta. Traditional desi styles are not ‘costumey’
agree the white shirt makes it so instagram influencer kinda look and hence blah
Respect the intent; however, the Bindi-necklace scream ’90s KJo.
Clearly no stylist helped her , this is a quick look put together by her with minimal effort . The white shirt makes it look casual for the red carpet & brings down the entire outfit .
Looks like a malfunction cover up with shirt
I like the look. Sometimes I don’t want to wear an all-out heavy Indian outfit, and wouldn’t mind mixing it up like this, while letting the lehenga shine. I’d wear this (if I had that kinda money and clout to be invited to a red carpet event haha!)
