Alia partook in Durga Pujga celebrations wearing a red sari from Torani with a blouse different than what the model sported. Like the switcheroo? I liked the original blouse better.
Someone please explain to me why most of these celebrities insist on showing skin at religious events? Rani, Tanisha, Kajol, Sumona, are all guilty of it one year or another. Fine and dandy at Social events, awards, parties and such. But Durga Puja? Ganesh Chaturthi? I am embarrassed for them. Inappropriate.
Sleeveless is one thing, thin spaghetti straps with deep cuts in both front and back are different. There is a place and time for everything. This kind of blouse in a Durga Puja is not it!
Bengali women have worn sleeveless blouses for eons during pujas/importantfunctions. It is not looked down upon, nor considered inappropriate. And I mean regular sleeveless blouses, seen sported by Rani and kajol in these pujo pics. It has nothing to do with Bollywood, but is a standard fare all bengalis have witnessed in their household since eons, with our mothers, aunts, grandmothers sporting this.
I am a bengali myself, born and brought up in Calcutta
Can you please ID the saree Shweta Nanda was wearing in the pandal. It seemed like a Dhakai Jamdani.
probably her mum’s. looks like a classic piece.
Hmm not a very exiting saree or look.
the original is much better- Alia has a bad habit of unnecessarily modernizing sari blouses
There is no modernization. Sleeveless blouses were worn extensively, if not primarily in ancient India, especially Bengal.
this is a bralet. not a blouse.
The others like Kajol, Rani, Shweta, etc are beautifully dressed for the Pooja. Alia on the other hand is there for a photo op.
