The Kapoor family celebrated Diwali together on Sunday evening and Alia was spotted wearing a sari from Ritu Kumar featuring a matching jacket paired with a necklace and maang tikka. The sari and jacket was nice but the ultra sleek hairdo here feels a bit underwhelming. But, this was a laidback family get together so I get her keeping it (the hairdo!) simple.

Lol in what world is this simple? Stylist curated looks for a dinner with close family,pandal visits, somebody’s mayyat? This girl has no chill. Meanwhile the Kapoor sisters’outfits reflect endless chill. That is how most of us dress up for a festive get together with close family, irrespective of profession and industry. Crisp, well put together, respectful yet with an ease and cool which comes from not having to put on a persona/front.
All of Alia’s appearances feel like she is there representing brand Alia. An ornate jacket on top of a saree for a dinner at home? On a scale of 1-10 I’ll give this an Ambani wedding guest level lack of chill.
100%. As a study in contrasts, Kareena standing right next to her looks like she dressed herself…elegantly, tastefully, and appropriately given the setting and occasion and looks just lovely. Alia’s outfit, hair, comportment…all look try hard here and the result is underwhelming. so meh.
Bizarre if you call this simple. LOL. Like someone said, she looks anything but simple and who dresses like this for a family festive dinner?? Did she come from a magazine shoot or a store opening??? Love Kareena’s simple and tasteful outfit…so at home and at ease with herself…
I called the hair style simple.
In Payal defense, the person in question is from showbiz. It is expected that they would focus on dressing up. If it were a chef, the focus of the party would be on the food. If it were a florist, their home flowers might be more dialled up.
So, it is fair to expect a leading film actress to be dressed up more than other folks. Holding her to a slightly different standard is not unreasonable.

She is so overdressed for a Diwali party at someone’s home. Karisma and Kareena look like normal people celebrating Diwali with the family. Alia looks like she’s headed for a large scale event.
In what world is this simple? She was the most overdressed in that gathering, looking like she was about to attend a wedding. Getting a stylist to curate a family gathering look??!!! *rolling my eyes hard*

It was OTT for a family party… Plus the broad neckline doesn’t suit Alia ‘s frame.

LOL this is not simple in any way. Sorry but this outfit looks garish and hiseous. The jascket blouse looks so weird on her…idk yet another highly curated piece but falls flat
Did y’all see Soha and Karisma at the party? That’s chill, laidback, stylish without having an actual stylist curate you like a bling lamp. Rhea really is not the right choice for Alia, who needs some cute, young styles that match her youthful looks.

I understand folks like Alia who find it difficult to select anything but jeans and tshirts for themselves.
Thats where the stylist comes in…blame the stylist. Rhea is just OTT all the freaking time with her clients.
She did look quite overdone, the color being muted helped tone it down, although it’s a lovely outfit and she looks gorgeous, but standing beside Kareena, she seemed way more, in a way competitively.. overdone. Could’ve saved it for a more individual outing ?
Her stylist was rhea.. who by now we know: has to pull out all archival/vintage/big ass historical outfits, irrespective of the occasion and individual. There’s hardly to no reality in her styling.
Personally feel that this blog and some of it’s readers overly biased in criticism of Alia. Every Diwali event has the ott to simple..what is the big deal??
On the other hand I think Payal is quite soft and gracious with her (she is allowed to have her opinions and tone, not blaming Payal). With Alia, there’s always a defending point or criticisms are cushioned.
Almost feels like the daughter-in-law did not get the dress code memo and she showed up OTT .
Its more like DIL got the dress code but doesn’t give a damn!
So they need a stylist for a family dinner as well?
