Alia attended the screening of a series wearing a white jersey gown from Gucci from its 1996 collection when Tom Ford was the creative designer for the label. Am a bit surprised that as an ambassador for the brand, she isn’t wearing the current season outfits. Speaks more about the brand and their confidence in the current creative head.
Back to Ms. Bhatt, it isn’t that she looked bad in it, it’s just that this gown is so not her. We can go oooh-aah over the sourcing effort but I am not oooh-aah-ing over Alia in the gown.

Do her and her stylist always forget her height and body type?
This dress is made for a Deepika, Priyanka, Katrina. She’s not selling it. Love the clean styling though.
This gown is not her but in Alia’s defense I actually think she pulls it off better than expected. Gotta appreciate she’s sincerely trying to mix it up rather than sticking to the same old hair/makeup/style.
I agree ..I actually like the outfit and her makeup is just flawless. Honestly this idea of stereotyping for short vs tall girls is old now.
White culture is the dominant, rich, highly marketed culture of our times and much aped. Only that explains why these unflattering and unattractive clothes called “gowns” are lauded Tom Ford or not this is bland and a nothingness no matter who wears it and how vintage it is.
That’s the point missed! What’s about a white slip so gaga.. because kate moss made it sexy and clean almost 35 yrs ago. Models, especially top ones can make a cloth look couture.. using their outfits to make a big look.. silly
Well-articulated. Also, I am all for fashion-tapes (it’s what drives the YOLO of fashion), but if one has to use it in a way to barely hold the “gown” over their body instead of look-enhancement, the purpose is defeated – that too for an insipid garment like this one.
Imagination drives creative pursuits and outcomes that we see in the form of designer clothes however, the “wearability” of a garment is a totally different ball-game. Because if that wasn’t the case, every runaway garment would make it to somebody’s wardrobe.
Not a single redeeming feature in this design.
Besides, how do they sit through the screening in the cold, in attire like this?
The gold buckle of the belt is not sitting well either. It should have cinched the waist on the side and that would certainly have looked sharper.

Make up is also not suiting her
Whose hand is she grabbing on to? Looks like she can’t stand without support!! The shoes so uncomfortable?
Her height is not for this dress- if you are going to put her in it- accessorise it with jewellery, hair, make up- SOMETHING!!!!
I like the gown on her. I like the length more on her than how it’s sitting on the model. Alia’s worn it well.
She is looking gorgeous in that gown.
This dress is NOT made for ANYONE, least of all for Alia. What a shapeless mess (nothing vintage about it either). Lacks structure even with the belt which looks like Mother Amoeba trying to get hold of truant Baby Amoeba gown.
I think she looks fabulous in the dress.make up hair point on.
The fact that not being tall hasn’t stopped her from owning this look speaks for how well styled she is here.

Btw no clothes are made for anyone..it’s how you make them ur own and she is right on.
While this made me stop and look, it was mostly in sadness. I wish she walked without clinging to dear life hubby. The gown is kickass and the attitude one should have when wearing it should match that vibe. Her clingy wife routine looked lame. Her body type does nothing to the gown or vice versa… She seemed to fidget and keep touching her belt while worried of what else was peeking. One day, I wish she would wear something that she can confidently carry…
This dress is not her type.. kudos to her for trying something out of her territory though.. i would have loved to see this on Deepika / Katrina / Bipasha
Why does it feel like no one can catch the pulse of her dressing style ?
No amount of designer goodies will look good if not styled right…the gown feels like should have been hemmed to her height atleast…
She seems petite with curves…needs a new viewpoint (Kajol’s current stylist) and colour analysis!
