Alia attended the Gucci Cruise show in London on Monday evening wearing the label head to toe, but of course. After all that excess at the Met, am not surprised to see her pick a more simple and understated look here. She looked nice. I do wish they have given her non-black clutch though.

  1. I understand why on paper you would choose Alia to be a a brand Ambassador, India is fastest growing luxury market and she is the most visible face from Bollywood. But she seriously lacks personality & originality to pull this . From head to toe Gucci in previous post to this blah appearance, don’t think the brand equity really is helped at all .

    • Couldn’t agree more! I love seeing Indians as brand ambassadors for foreign luxury brand but I am not sold on Alia. I admire her as an actress but she just doesn’t have what it takes to stand out. I don’t get excited to see what Alia will wear to an event. These pictures are a clear example of that and it has nothing to do with her being petite.

    • Not that I am some fan of hers, but you are saying she can’t pull off a basic column dress and clutch? It needs more originality to attend a fashion show?

    • But that’s just what bw is left with in the top actors.. they wouldn’t take Bipasha or idk the very modelesque actresses.. it’s sadly about last few movies and popularity of stars in bw, they’re rarely a personality beyond movie success. Indian stars lack self branding and Gucci here is only interested in some star pin up.

        • You know I would take that ‘you need BW to sell in India’ maybe five years ago , but the market is evolved now . You need people with personality to really establish your brand especially in luxury segment . Right now it’s a very lazy attitude in the marketing , might help move pieces in short run but can’t build brand image .

  2. Her make up looks always seem to be making her appear Korean or so, idk why. Outfit Looks very plain, but that’s just how ultra high fashion or absolutely luxury is meant to be..

    • Yes! But minimalist ultra high fashion is still very impactful, Alia’s looks are not. The only reason she is a brand ambassador for something like Gucci is because her movies. Unfortunately, her personality on screen doesn’t translate IRL.

      • Ya maybe, the dress had no personality to enhance either. Most looks of other models, actors were just as muted. Big Brands have crazy scientific strategies to position themselves, it’s not as simple as sales n looks. Can’t imagine this dress looking any better, I guess they make bland clothes to bring the client to the actual draw which is accessories bags belts shoes etc.

    • I carry weight in my arms, and it’s actually refreshing to me that I see someone else the same way. I think one thing that Alia has going for her is how she represents a very real woman. Real hairline, real body, and natural imperfections. She is, of course, incredibly beautiful, but it’s also nice to see that even someone incredibly beautiful can have some bulge. This is the first line Gucci has put out that had me considering pieces for myself and it’s partly due to seeing how normal it looks on celebrities.

I also feel that while this may seem subdued, it’s on par with the line Gucci put out. It wouldn’t make sense for her to dress completely opposite to the vibe of the line.

  3. I think she is looking lovely!! we are not happy with over the top looks ..we are not happy with simple look…whats wrong with how she is dressed ?!!…the dress is lovely and she is looking chic!! thats how Gucci visualises her in their dress and that translates into how she is looking…uber chic

  4. Such a clean & gorgeous look, hair & makeup are on point.
Bag choice, as you say, could’ve been better but that seems like a Gucci enforced fault than Alia or her team’s

  5. I am ok if she is not a huge fashionista. She is an amazing actress and an actress is who the brand is associated with. Proud of her as an Indian.

  6. The dress is a size too small (at the bust and waist). It is NOT flattering at all on her. Her HMU is perfect but this dress is doing nothing for her.

  7. Her appointment as a Gucci ambassador makes me sad and amazed at the same time. Access to such high profile appointments and movies in BW has become a thing of privilege. She has neither the looks, charisma, or unique personality to pull it off. So many more unique and talented faces/personalities exist in India but they don’t get the access and opportunity. Alia is very run of the mill. BW was interesting till 2010s, now it’s just a few basic faces and talent. we see everywhere doing everything. We had Priyanka, Kareena, Deepika, Sonam, Kangana, Bipasha, and so many more indie faces and models! Anyway, the look is clean. But you’d think that for such a simple, done to death look you’d at least get the fit right? Hate how it bunches up. Surprised no nitpicking done for her looks again. Btw I went back to see DP’s look for LV PFW 2022, that was WOW! But we got just one photo boo. Kangana and Anushka at Dior events were also really good.

    • Ya this is so sad and becoming a norm, back in 90s only the biggest models shot n represented international brands, maybe not as ambassadors but definitely for any print or campaign, maybe few actors too, and there was a big difference in models n actors, but now it’s down to prestige n star value.
Don’t know where the entire chain of casting scouting n then assigning talents is going wrong, that we are left with star kids only… for new two-three gens.

      • Indeed, even the prestige n star value attached to these star kids feels very manufactured and curated. They may be decent actors but they’ve been propelled up to star status so inauthentically and shoved down our throats everywhere, as a consumer of fashion and entertainment it feels so disingenuous and boring. Nothing makes me sit up and go WOW

  8. The makeup makes her look as though she is sick.
The dress and the bag are not selling anything. Browns need something to lift it up, and here in this case the black bag is only pulling down the dress

  9. to me this dress is not flattering on Alia – she is a petite lady but this dress is making her look very broad and squarish – head and body proportions are off

  10. So much of a fashionable look also depends on how it’s carried off. Alia’s demeanour is often that of a very young woman, with her head slightly bent down at a demure angle, eyes looking shyly up, the expression of someone who is rather startled to be in that outfit, in that place. The earlier post, of Poorna – now that’s good posture and her confidence adds to the impact of the appearance
