I am glad the torture is over
That’s it, back to tents. I wonder when this contract ends.
What would it take not to post her in your blog again?
She is a major disappointment.
She’s looking lovely here
Side parted hair look much better and Aishwarya also seems comfortable with it.
It’s clear that she doesn’t care about fashion in the least, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s just confusing that she then wears designer overcoats to travel. It’s also strange to see her at Cannes this year given that she wasn’t promoting L’Oreal, she had no films being screen (i.e. no professional reason to be there), and she phoned it in on the red carpet: Radhe Maa look on day 1, nice gown on day 2 which she had to ruin by throwing on the hotel chaadar to hide her arms (which look absolutely fine btw). If she’s going to turn up just to twirl on the red carpet, then why not just wear a normal gown? And if she doesn’t care about fashion, why fly thousands of miles for a 2 day outing in which you wear average clothes, don’t talk about films or your brand, and just fly out again. I know it’s Aishwarya Rai and her name always draws attention, but I’m starting to feel like it’s a waste to cover her; she clearly doesn’t care enough herself.
Yes
The worship she still gets is mind boggling.
It’s like we are expected to imagine her looks in movies from 30 years ago and her red carpet looks 30 years ago and ONLY gush.
Even during her prime, she was only a star, not an actor. But suddenly, we have to treat her as if she was India’s finest actor, ever and fashion is secondary.
She is not a physician or a social worker or a Bank employee. She made her millions appearing in movies and wearing high-end fashion. But I notice the last 10 years or so there is a law…….we are supposed to not criticize her looks or fashion for some mysterious reason!
We are supposed to channel our memory from 30 years ago and continue appreciating her!!
We don’t give the same break to anyone else.
She was a mediocre actor at best even during her heyday. I Find the whole Aish obsession so ridiculous.
If she appears in public, she will be criticized, 10 out of 10 appearances have her wearing horrendous clothes and really bad hair.
Period.
I feel your critique of her acting skills is either uninformed / biased. Even her early movies Aishwarya has acted well and worked with ace directors in south as well as Bollywood. Pl watch Iruvar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Raincoat, Choker Bali, Shabd, Devdas, Guzaarish and Ponnniyin Selvan 1&2.
And she has been in Cannes jury and still loreal B.Ambasaador.
You kind of proved Kohl’s and my point. She had a handful of noteworthy movies of which only PS is less than 12 years old, she was on Cannes jury 22 years ago, and while she is still a L’Oreal ambassador, they seem not to have styled her for Cannes this year. She didn’t even do any interviews, apparently.
So the question remains: WHY was she at Cannes this time? I could understand if she came to showcase something exciting in fashion, but she offered nothing beyond the usual tent outfits, red lip, loose hair and clumsy additions to cover her arms on both days – all of which are her standard for every public appearance in India in recent years.
As someone who admires her for her grace and demeanor over the decades, I’m puzzled that she came out of hiding and flew thousands of miles to bring us absolutely nothing. No fashion, no interaction, no films, no brand rep.
“we have to treat her “? I’m sorry but who’s asking you to do that ? If anything , the feedback on her Cannes look has been so polarising . People loved it or hated it . But you can’t deny that even on this blog , it’s a post about Aish which gets max reaponses . So imagine about the International platforms like Cannes . It’s about the attention you garner and hold .
Radhe ma or hotel chaddar, it’s still a look some liked and some didn’t . But it garnered attention . That’s all . And if you have doubts about her acting skills , you’ve clearly not watched an appreciated Kandukondein , Guru , Iruvar . And cinema is entertainment . If not acting , she more than makes up for it with her dancing skills .
If she’s not there for L’Oreal, what is she going there for? Why torture herself and everybody else. Definitely baffling.
She had the skin and eyes of a Caucasian and Indians have a deep rooted basis towards these traits and they are less appreciative of dusky skin and dark big eyes. It’s deeply rooted in our subconscious and hence the goddess like treatment towards her.
100%
I don’t understand her worship at all
Every other person in Twin Falls, Idaho looks like that…
By that logic , Alia and Urvashi should’ve been the Cannes most sought after . No ?
They don’t have light blue/green eyes. I don’t say she doesn’t have any talent but I do strongly feel that these traits gives one a lot more advantage when it comes to Indian audience. There are many more who are far more talented and have more achievements who deserve to be idolized than her.
Oh my god, she really is so much more gorgeous and starry off the frenzy. Love
Aishwarya did walk for L’Oréal. Why are people saying that she didn’t?
I’m yet to see a Dhruv Kapoor creation that I liked, and this is the same. I honestly don’t understand what actors like about this brand.
As for Aishwarya here, I can hardly make out what she’s wearing – the whole thing feels so unstructured.
So the question remains; WHY was she at Cannes this time?
What bothers me the most is the fact that posts about her has the most activity.
She was there for L’Oreal. She walked the carpet with Helen Mirren and Cara Delevingne on day two repping the brand and also took pictures at the L’Oreal booth.
She was there for L’oreal. Stop with these baseless assumptions. Also not every society is like the South Asian society where if you are not churning out movies all the time and if you are not in the ‘Top Ten’ you will be disregarded. The cosmetics brand is the biggest in the world, they know what is profitable. When was the last time Jane Fonda was in a movie? She still walked the carpet for the brand. When was the last time Cara Delevigne walked the ramp? She was there on the red carpet repoing the brand. Aishwarya’s just did an ad for the brand this year with Aditi and she did one last year too.
Also understand the culture, Cannes takes place in France. Loreal is a french brand. Now understand this, the French are very nostalgic people and they love Aishwarya, she is etched in their memory since she went there for Devdas in 2002. They are not going to abandon her just because this bunch is unhappy with her retreating drastically in the last few years. She does mot want to give interviews and do clips for the brand, the brand seems to be fine with it. She doesn’t want to give an interview to a journo. Fine, what should she talk about? She has no movies coming up. She just gave a movie and a brilliant performance in PS-2 two years ago. According to International standards that frequency is fine. She doesn’t need to do anything. And what is noticeable is that she is going through something, so she can take as much time off as she wants. That is not dilluting her brand equity, Loreal knows that and thats why she is still on board.
Also to the mangos here:
Nobody has headlined the business of show and beauty in the last 3 decades like Aishwarya has. Half of you only know what Loreal is because of her. So please sit down. Legit movie stars dont fade away because of a bad patch in their career. Relax. Aishwarya Rai is one of the last entrants to the elite club of Movie Stars.
it’s mindboggling how women are still talking her down even after all these years. there will not be another Aishwarya – that’s a fact. She walked so everyone can run.
