What is Aishwarya wearing? It looks like satin nightwear, especially with those ultra-thin straps. But why am I surprised…I have said time and time again on HHC that Aishwarya does not have an iota of dress sense. Even people with no sense of style are able to get it right occasionally because of the law of averages, but our Aishu happily gets it wrong every single time. If the dress is ok the hair and make-up are bad. If the make-up is good the dress is ugly. If the dress on its own is pretty you can be sure that it will be unsuitable for the event she is attending (chhammak chhallo sari when receiving Padma Shri, anyone? See-through black lace sari and bikini blouse to Zayed Khan’s wedding?). Here she is wearing skimpy negligee to a party of an 80 year old woman!!
This dress does nothing for her. The thin straps make her shoulders look wrestler-like and her body look lumpy. The strange boob padding and stitches outlining the boob area scream *nightie*.
Uh Uh………this is bad. Abhishek is looking like such a wannabe. Velvet is such scorching heat is unbearable. & Ashwarya’s gown resembles lingerie.
On as aside I am loving the lovely Parsee embroidery border on this other lady’s chunni.

Aishwarya looks tanned because they just got back from their anniversary vacation in the Maldives. The dress is just blah but she looks happy and relaxed.

She is Aishwarya Rai. people will copy her anyway; if people think in limited boxes (“this is nightwear”) it is only a good thing that she wears this. and no mather what she wears or does, she is and always will be beautiful!

hahaa ash in negligee and abhi in a smoking jacket.. looks like they forgot to actually get dressed.. EVERYONE else at the event was dressed conservatively – Vidya Balan looked lovely… so Ash stuck out in a very inappropriate way

I like Ash’s dress. Abhi needs to let his hair grow a little longer, jacket is too short and too dark for his complexion. He would look better wearing pale colors. This is one photo of Ash that has not been photo shopped and she looks great. it shows her actual skin color which is beautiful, hate it when they make her look white.
The reason Aish is criticized for her dress sense so much is that no other major star gets it so consistently wrong. Kareena, Priyanka, Bips etc may turn up in a weird outfit once in a while but with Aish and Western wear it is one WTF after another.
Looking dull and boring is one thing, but making such a gorgeous woman look *bad* takes a weird sort of talent. I’d be perfectly happy if she wore the most plain LBD with little or no make-up – even then she’d look better than she does with the best designers, stylists and make-up artists at her disposal.
Abhishek’s jacket looks like it is made from an upholstry fabric! The print is way too busy! He shud really knock the velvet off!
As for Ash.. her sateen nite-ee def wrks in balancing all that print on her husbands jacket. But the ‘just-going-to-bed’ look doensn’t seem to be wrking at all!
All in all they desperately need a fashion stylist!
Look up ‘zero style’ in the dictionary, Abhisek Bacchan is there. Dude is wearing a bad hybrid of sofa plus carpet. Aish looks lovely. However the dress is a bit informal, a bit lingerie-ish.
The dress really does look like a satin night gown and I am very luke warm towards Abhi’s jacket, nothing spectacular but nothing bad as well. As a couple though they definitely are in sync, that does increase their “awww” factor:P

It is kind of inappropriate. i mean when she was in the U.S it was the perfect time to show cleavage and all that, but to an 8- year olds bday…m yea i dont think so. i agree that this dress is nigthy-ish…but it looks good on her. THe make up hair and clutch are cute….

Aishwarya’s gown isn’t remarkable by any means, but it’s nothing like the WTFs that other celebrities have worn. Her skin looks lovely, though, and I’m glad to see she’s going the “less is more” route with her makeup and accessories. I also am glad her hair is returning to its darker, natural shade.
LOL@Prem Rogue, she holds the crown of Why Oh Why. In addition to what you said, it is her achievement and level of exposure on an international platform, so our level of expectation is undoubtedly higher.
Maybe we should stop saying she needs a stylist, because even on her other major appearances with stylists we have criticised her, so lets not just blame her.
The jacket is ok – but my oh my what a difference a shave makes …. Abhishek completely ruins the look once he has had a shave. Clean shaven does not suit him in the slightest.
Now that I think about it, I think Aish’s dress gives off even more of a *nightie* vibe because her hair looks a bit unkempt and amateurishly styled (esp. in the first pic), as if she just crawled out of bed and hastily dampened and blow-dried it.
She is simply not well put together for this party. At all. I rest my case.
