Aarti and Sneha also opted for saris to wear to the Shankar-Karthikeyan reception with the former wearing a heavy benarasi sari featuring a lion motif weave and the latter a yellow-ish kanjivaram.

Both look absolutely gorgeous – beautiful sarees, perfect drapes, sensible blouses that compliment the sarees & very, very event appropriate. How can anyone not see that such looks & our traditional weaves look a million times better & more distinctive than the blingy lehenga & bra that Bollywood favours? Why would anybody not want to look like this? I cannot understand how the Hindi film industry, almost collectively, has decided to like the tacky & over-the-top instead of elegant & classic.

Came here to say something similar… back to back gorgeous outfits in each post, which is so unlike a wedding reception in Bollywood.
Probably bcoz it isn’t mainstream Bwood.

This is just my theory, hear me out. I think B’wood women think they will look sexier if they show more skin, and that they’re sending a signal to directors/producers that says “Hey! Look at me! I am sexy and you can cast me in your next gig, where I know you want someone sexy because sex sells!”. If you observe the women that dress classy in B town like Karisma Kapoor and Mira Kapoor, they are not necessarily the ones looking for a big Bollywood career, at least at this point.
and this, children, is how you dress at someone else’s wedding.
