No, we aren’t really doing a feature on some out of work Vegas showgirls.

In fact, if you still didnt recognize the ladies above, they are, Serena & Venus Williams and Jelena Jankovic! The ladies can kick your ass on the tennis court, but wearing a sari is definitely not their forte and we don’t expect it to be!

But, for the sponsors to dress them up in cheap velvet blouses and the lowest end quality of mysore silk is just sad! Tsk Tsk.

For next time, we hope they take some hints from Anna Kournikova below and make some demands before slipping into such shoddy stuff!

  2. that’s really really bad of these Indian sponsors or organizers to give them cheap ass sarees!! they Needn’t call a Neeta Lulla but at least they could’ve given them decent kanjeevarams or chiffons!! geez, so annoying!!

on the other hand, praise these ladies for mustering up the courage to come out in these hideous sarees.

  3. Anna Kornikova looked great it was for the launch of something I forget what but she was dressed by Rohit Bal and wore it really well. The others reinstate the theory that only Indian ladies can wear the saree with grace and dignity.

  4. I think anyone can wear a saree with grace and dignity, as long as you know how to (or are taught). Even an Indian, at some point, was taught. I have some (or many) issues when I wear a saree and yes, I am Indian. A LOT of my friends (not-indian) love wearing sarees and do a better job than me!

  5. God, what happened there? Just who was appointed the stylist? It is not that easy to wear a sari for sure. Bad.

  6. I browsed through your blog and thought they were what everyone thought, I didn’t read the lines or the names. Then stumbled again, reminding me of the Mardi Gras and got a major shock after reading the names. It’s sad that they are presented in those saries in that manner (the hair, make up and Serena’s body is not covered well, suddenly it feels flashy) at a foreign country. Usually they wear so much jewellery, even whilst playing; what happened now when they need to show some glow? I hope nobody shows them the picture. It’s a little heart breaking.
