WLIFW Spring 2013: Joy Mitra

Joy Mitra presented a collection that drew inspiration from the colonial India while attempting to give traditional garments a more contemporary twist. I can’t quite honestly say the collection made much of an impression. A lot of the traditional looks seemed like rehashed (and badly executed) Anand Kabra and/or Anamika Khanna designs.

  1. I’ve seen his work for real and love it. Its very wearable and you won’t risk looking like a try hard.
Very Indian and very elegant dreamlike. Shame you girls didn’t like… as this collection is hands down more concise than Anand Kabra’s this year… and I’m a Kabra co student/friend/fan.

  2. While I would concede to P&P’s expert opinion on whether this is too inspired,
I think some of the pieces here are really lovely. Esp the first in the last row and last in the first row.
