WLIFW Spring 2013: Taika By Poonam Bhagat
A Slice of Samarkand and A Bite of Bukhara was the theme of the collection presented by Poonam Bhagat under her label Taika. True to the theme, we saw Suzani embroidery presented in the form of dresses, vests and long robes with white, red and black being the predominant color scheme.
My favs from the collection, the jumpsuit and the vest.

Good collection. Wearable.
Is it just me, or is it very masaba-esque?
Love it. Wearable AND original*.
I can’t really see the Masaba influence at all. The designer is cleverly playing up the symmetry of the print against the asymmetrical cuts of the clothes, which I really dig.
*Now I’m just praying that I don’t see this and discover it’s an “inspired” copy of another European/American designer. It’s a cynical outlook, but there are several precedents of this phenomenon.
Up close some of the prints were amazing….really good work.
Top row, second from left – asymmetrical dress with placement of motifs down the front & red under-layer is killer designing!
+1
Love the last one too. Will make a great mag cover!
