  1. the last dress on the 1st row looks like a “sonam kapoors mark jacobs dress on kwk” hangover. The first dress on the last row (that stood out!) is inexcusable.

  2. Am I the only one who does not get the makeup on some of the models? Yes, I get that it is ramp make-up and has to be eye-catching .. but I can’t make head or tail out of what this make-up symbolizes.

    • The makeup is a nod to the Moko – a maori facial tattoo…The entire collection is heavily inspired by maori art as well as the new zealand silver fern

  3. Definitely inspired by the Maori people, the natives of NZ! The Moku (chin and lip tattoo), the fern (National symbol) and the classic flax inspired skirts! Absolutely love it!

    • It’s a cultural reference to the Maori people. Definitely not ‘ugly’ for them but a celebration of their culture.
As someone who grew up in New Zealand I LOVE this inspiration. You can see new zealand everywhere – the Korus, the silver ferns.
I would so want pieces from this collection

    • Ditto ! Inspired by some culture or not those garish tattoos over power the clothes. I first thought the models were hanging their tongues out or what, then I realized that its paint on their chins. I googled the so called Maori tattoos, they somehow look subtle, unlike the ugly ones on these models.

      • While these may not be the best representation of Mokos – subtle is definitely not a word that anyone would use for real mokos, which often cover a large part of the face

      • +1 The maori tattoos are subtle and more defined… and not like black blobs… Putting that aside, I love the collection…specially row 2 and row 4 – last 3 designs!!!

    • It’s good to see the look pushed on the runway. The dresses are gorgeous regardless. Obviously no one will wear the tattoo thing in real life. I have liked Nachiket’s clothes always and I have bought some and I look and feel good in them( and I am not slim at all) but this collection is truly brilliant. It is the best I have seen if him, and many others this season

  4. People really need to stop trolling.. this collection is gorgeous, each piece so cohesive with stunning craftsman ship. Frankly i’m bored of seeing the typical “i’m such a pretty princess” makeup on every single show..let’s push the envelope a bit shall we? And really, calling the makeup “ugly” when its clearly an homage to someone else’s (unique) culture…I guess not everyone can appreciate ingenious creativity . 😉
    Brilliant collection.

    • I doubt that people are simply trolling on this blog. When people say they find the clothes ugly, I believe that that is what they actually feel, because that is what I say when I find the clothes unpleasant to look at. I find some of the clothes in this collection outlandish and ugly, but it is no disrespect to the Maori culture – the culture is beautiful, it is the designer’s interpretation that I dislike. Also different strokes for different folks – we must agree to disagree.

  5. Don’t mean to offend anybody, or pick up a fight or “troll”…but as they say “different strokes for different folks”……people have different preferences, tastes and choices, that is why we have so many designers and so much variety catering to different needs, choices and levels. And everybody may not always appreciate or agree with each other.

Having said that , the dictionary describes the word “Ugly” as “unpleasant to look at” and that is how the tattoos on the models looked like to me. And everybody may not always appreciate or agree with each other. Now, to each her own how to look at things- as ingenious creativity or genuinely unattractive. Lets pick our choice and PEACE OUT !

  7. Incredibly clever. It’s very beautiful but not literally referenced or tribal looking. I can pinpoint the Maori references but still find it wearable. Love it

  8. Isn’t this collection look like trying too hard?? Nachiket all of a sudden trying to do red carpet pieces?? And those wagging tongue tattoos are definitely a distraction,Can’t look past through to the clothes at all

    • trying too hard? it is beautiful and really unusual as inspiration. When most designers are doing the same decades again and again, I find the inspiration very interesting
