Wearing One’s Own

Dubai based designer Ayesha Depala was spotted in her own creation again. She wore a white draped gown with pink Manolo Blahnik sandals and a Chanel evening bag.

I like how Ms. Depala always adds a splash of color to her outfits instead of going monochromatic or doing the same ole black and white…

  1. she looks nice. but I don’t like the fact that she paired a white dress with a black bag.

anyone has suggestions on good under-eye concealers? I think except the area around her eye, she looks perfect.

  2. I am not a fan of her ear jewel, it makes the whole outfil look so junk. She really didnt mix everything too well to be called gorgeous.

  3. What’s with the make-up? She has gorgeous skin, but the make-up (or the way the light catches it) ruins it. The dress is divine though.

  4. @nefertiti A good under eye concealer depends on how much coverage you need and whether your skin is oily or not. What may be good for other might now be the best option for you. Try different brands at a makeup store and buy the one that you think works best.

  5. WOW! She looks amazing. Love her style. She really knows how to work her own collection. The dress is supposed to be long at the back. I imagine it looks that way because she is standing in a particular way. Maybe it’s my computer, but i don’t see any issues with the concealer?!?!! She looks FAB!

  6. As a journo who has interviewed Ayesha on many occasions and consequently got to know her on a personal level, the readers of this blog should know and focus on the fact that this woman has to be one of the most hardworking young women in this industry. Unlike the other featured celebs who spend their waking hours being preened and primped, Mrs. Depala barely has enough time in her day. She manages to juggle a genuinely hectic work schedule, family, children, and all her numerous committments. She still manages to look fabulous at the events she is invited to attend! She is remarkable. A true role model for Indian women.

I guess thats the effect dubai has on people. they want to cake up, no matter how nice their features are!

  11. @grozny,

please elaborate on how Mrs. Depala is so much more hardworking than other designer whom you were referring to. I don’t understand what makes her different from the others in terms of the amount of work she puts in. the other designers who are “primped and preened” all day have the same social and familial obligations that any other woman, even ayesha depala, has. i don’t see the validity in what you’re saying.

  12. @PeachBellini,
I can only speak from my own personal and professional interaction, and in my opinion, many of India’s ‘leading’ designers are more concerned with fame, than they are with their actual work, hence the glaring mediocrity in what they produce.
Mrs. Depala is primarily a genuinely talented creative, businesswoman, mother, and wife, and her fame is a consequence rather than a cause. Once again, my opinion is based on research and professional experience.

  13. I seem to be in the minority, because I just do not like the whole look! bad make-up, over sized dress, shoes that are practically hidden! And a brighter color bag would help!!!

Though the model rocks! any idea who she is?
