In Picchika

Wamiqa attended promotions of her upcoming movie wearing a hand-painted sari and matching blouse from Picchika complete with a matching scarf in hair. The purposely carefully placed pallu right in the middle drape does get a bit of my goat but other than that she looked nice in this.

  1. I get the irritation that many of us feel with the artfully placed pallu – but I have to keep reminding myself that fashions change with time – if it were a clinging top or dress, that showed just as much of the bust, would we be as irked? So it seems to be that we place the saree drape on a pedestal. There was a time when even sleeveless blouses or plunging backlines were considered daring – now we don’t blink if we see those. Maybe time to get go of this demand too, that the pallu be decorously draped over the breast.

  2. I wish as a mere commoner I could drape saree this way, I think it makes you look thinner. Look at the shoulder blades, so sharp – why wouldn’t she want to show them off?

On a separate not – why this obsession with butterflies, is it because of the movie she is promoting?
