In Payal Singhal

Wearing Payal Singhal, Vidya Balan took on the latest round of promotions for her upcoming movie. It has been interesting to see her branch out to dresses and while some have been more successful than others, it sure makes for a change from all the Sabya saris.

As for this look itself, it strictly is okay. We don’t hate it, don’t love it and strongly believe there’s that perfect ten moment waiting to happen but this wasn’t it just yet.

  1. I for one.. really loved her in the sabya sari’s.. her Cannes stint wasn’t that great.. but in general she always looked so superb in her sabyas.. plus she made us envious of all that sabya in her closet. So I really don’t like any of her looks lately.

    • I feel someone like Vidya who is voluptuous shouldn’t wear dresses with too many layers and bold prints. It just makes her look disproportionate. I am not a fan of too many clashing prints in a dress and this is just that.

  2. Too many things going on at once. I’m not sure who to “blame” – Vidya or the designer? I tried imagining Deepika or Sonam in the same outfit… I don’t see how anyone would ever be able to pull this off. I love Vidya but I genuinely miss seeing her in a saree as of late.

  3. She has that awkward Vidya smile that she had in her Kismat Konnection days. Like she knows she doesn’t look good. Why the huge prints? That make her look even bigger than she is.

I am a firm believer that bigger women must wear small prints/monochromes.

  4. Hi P&P,

You know what would be kind of cool for us readers? If you guys would maybe feature some casual celebrity styles as well. I kind of enjoy seeing what Bollywood starlets wear on an ‘off day’ moreso than at major events. I think it’s because it’s more relatable and accessible to all of us in the sense we can actually emulate those casual styles much easier in our own lives. Just a thought.. 🙂

  5. There are some who can never wear prints/silhouettes that suits their body type and Vidya B has always been a fore runner in that. The only difference between her horrid styling pre sabya days and now is that P&P feels the need to give her a fress pass which was uncommon 5 years back. hah!
