Almost.
We got our wish when Vidya turned up at a recent event in a non-anarkali look and we might have loved her casual look too if instead of those blingy platform shoes, Vidya had worn simpler sandals like the Nine West ones below.
What say you? Like or dislike, Vidya that is.
You can check out more pictures of Vidya from the event here.

Nine West Apricot Sandals ( Buy)
This one is just ‘unsalvagable’….sigh!!!
don’t like it. she kind of reminds me of Manna Shetty (Sunil Shetty’s wife) in these pictures.
DISLIKE DISLIKE!!
she’s so frumpy…ARGHHH
when she’s not in anarkalis, then she’S totally attempting to work the aunty look
and it doens’t matter how good you look in them YOU CANNOT WEAR ANARKALIS ALL THE TIME
She looks like an aunty ji… she will be out of movie offers soon… pull up ur socks lady… get a stylist and a makeover already! The whole outfit is simply ghastly!
i agree that the shoes are an eyesore, but i do like the kurta on her..i like that she dresses for comfort and according to her taste instead of going for designer labels like her contemporaries..
the least she could do is iron her kurta…i can see fold lines in it…
It seems like Vidya is hiding in her clothes.
Hope she finds her ‘look’ soon.
love the look in theory, simple short kurta, bright silk churidaar, however she is letting it down with really bad sandals… also hasn’t accessorized the look well
I quite like it. And lets face it – the average Indian woman looks better in something like this.
Should have been a white kurta instead of black and she would have nailed it. But like the fact that she has lost weight and is looking almost fresh, relative to a few months to a year ago.
why isn’t this a WTHEYY?? I think it totally is.
Those pink pants are hideous! And those shoes… oh dear Lord.
its boring…there are so many interesting indian designer outfits…why does she pick a boring style always…but when it come to vidya, its better she keeps it simple…her choice of western wear is ghastly!
uhhhh i hate the outfit too
way too much of a contrast
blinding
sorry Payal not digging this look at all! the black top is adorable but when paired w/ hot pink churidar, doesn’t work! or maybe the churidar may’ve worked w/ a different top but not w/ this black one! lol
i hate it!! those neon pink chudidars are way beyond my liking!! kurta-chudidar and jholas used to be my college staple.. but somehow i dont find them appropriate for a grown up! or atleast not these weird faux silk types..
I feel bad,I wish someone would tell some of these girls;all it takes is confidence! Her discomfort is written all over her face whether it’s to do with the whole being photagraphed situation or in her clothes.I wish she’d just wear and behave however she’s comfortable. No one expects everyone to be a fashionista…sigh
cute outfit.. but the hair and make up could’ve done the trick. it’s an ok look!
Its ghastly, not ironed properly, totally inappropriate for a public appearance, shoes well another story. We do not wish to see average rather below average from an actress like her cos it puts across the message ‘I dont care am just frumpy’
Nothing wrong with comfort, but a little steam and press never hurt anyone! I agree that a white kurta would have made more sense with the blingy shoes…with the black, it doesn’t really match.
I somehow feel that is a Fabindia kurta .. i saw something like that a few months back.. silk kurtas with chiken work .. and if that is a Fabindia, I so hate her for ruining it this way !!!
Everything is wrong about this look IMO.
She can never do it right!!
Frumpiness, bling factor aside, The look would have worked if she chose to wear a brick red or maroon pants instead of that pink. Maroon would have totally glammed her up in this case! That shade of black doesnt go well with pink!
C’mon..what was that?? she is a star and can wear way much better than the rest…sorry to say..but i guess she is a fashion victim…and her chudidar is too too painful for the eyes…and the black kurta oh! forget it…
y can’t she get a makeover?? Gayatri Khanna once said it to me when i interviewed her….and she said ” i think Vidya Balan for sure needs a makeover” ha ha so true!!
Maybe it’s an “indian” thing but what in the world of all that is fashionable and tasteful is that outfit about?!?!, is this how women in India dress?, or college girls,? (genuine question from a uk gal) that outfit is hideous, it’s just hideous, I can’t see it being any less hideous on any other body shape.
Why would you wear a shapeless sack like kurta and then neon hot pink churidar pajama bottoms, unless you wanted to purposefully make yourself look frumpy or top heavy. I wouldn’t even wear this ensemble in the privacy of my home. Wrong Wrong Wrong.
Oh and the shoes are not the worst thing about this outift, plus she could have applied a little base- even skin tone might have helped distract attention from the neck down – although I doubt it.
From all the beautiful clothes out there she had to pick this one…arghh she’s such a gorgeous woman why does she keep doing this to herself…seriously needs to get a stylist. i mean i wouldn’t even wear such an ugly outfit at home!
that hot pink is killing my eyes!!! I know black should work with anything, but here it doesnt!
ok i don’t like quite that she didn’yt iron her kurta, and i am not liking the colour of the churidar, for some reason it isn’t complimenting the kurta, nor is it contrasting in a good manner…the shoes…well thts another story altogether
she needs to learn how to do churidaar-kurta-kajal look from Konkana
one of her nastro’s is bigger than the other
Umm it’s ok I guess…she could have ironed the kurta and changed her shoes…and the ‘aunty’ comments are totally uncalled for.
Also why is it such a big deal, if someone is covered up from head to toe for a change? I mean just cos she’s being conservative in dressing does not mean she is ‘hiding under clothes’ and other such stuff:(
nothing wrong with this, just needs some ironing. But I wanna see her in something more age-appropriate, there are so many choices out there…
I am unable to work out.. whats wrong with her?
But i really like the kurta and its stuff 🙂
