In Sabyasachi

Vidya Balan may have been wearing Sabyasachi but there is no way the designer would approve of how she wore the two pieces together, would he? Would he?

While individually we liked the pieces, they clearly belonged to two different outfits/looks. And that tightly curled hair did Miss Balan no favors, not to mention those entirely too-tall-for-the-skirt-and-much-too-chunky-for-the-outfit pumps. Oh Vidya, Vidya, Vidya.

  1. Haha. She never fails to make a clown of herself. This goes to prove good designers cannot make the outfit work on fashion challenged in this case not even a normal way of putting things together. This woman has to stop giving these good designers a bad name. Jesus!

    • Uff where did a whole sentence disappear. My iPhone is crazy. I was saying..work on Fashion challenged people. In this case not even a normal way of putting pieces together has gone terribly wrong. She should be sued by Sabyasachi for ridiculing his outfit.

  2. Love the curls ! How I wish my hair would curl 🙁
Love the two pieces on their own …but not together. Somebody get me that kurta. Comfort !!

  3. Okay not to be snarky or anything but she’s worn the same rust-on-black-print 3 times in a row now! She first wore it on a kurta with off-white churidhaar I think, then on a blouse with that wonderful green sari, and now here! (Though the first two were polka dots and this is a geometric print.) Enough already!
As usual, I can not find fault with Sabya’s clothes, but this has to be the most unimaginative pairing ever.
    And horrible hair.
What a gorgeous woman, what a waste.

  4. Sabyasachi is not the easiest designer to wear unless you have your own personal style – and a strong one at that!
Sadly Vidya …though talented and pretty … has very little personal style and does not understand the garments she’s wearing…which leads to disasters such as above.
and as always vidya disappoints in her footwear – her and rani mukherjee always have bad footwear… why?
on the plus side – her make up looks great…

  5. WHOA!!!!!! What is she wearing?! No wonder she gets all this flake for her dressing sense. You guys didn’t say anything about her hideous shoes (boots)!!!
    2 thumbs down!

  6. Vidya… please make me your dress designer! I swear I will give you better designs than this one! What was she thinking? She’s spoilt both the pieces by teaming them up this way…..reminds me of clothes we would chose for some historical play back in college!!!

  7. ROFL… I’m sorry. I’m laughing at the futility of this. She has a beautiful face. She is being dressed by one of the best designers in the country. and she STILL manages to screw it up.

  8. Everytime I look at Vidya’s pics on HHC, I’m compelled to comment on it.
Why did she have to ruin such a pretty kurta and skirt by wearing ’em together ://

  9. Oh lord!!
He would definitely not approve of this!!
She has copied the run-way look as -is and it fails on her because she is not model tall or model thin ..
And those shoes .. she’s been wearing them in almost all her recent appearances, irrespective of the dress ……

Even Sabyasachi couldn’t help her .. sigh!!

      • Completely agree .. that is not the problem… the problem is her making a mess of those individually nice pieces …
What I’m trying to say is she has just copied the runway look..
I have the pics from this collection of Sabya and the models wore those pieces together .. a long kurta with those divided skirts .. but it looked fabulous because of the styling of the models( they are clothes-horses after all) and runway look is completely different .. you’ve got to interpret it in your own way to wear a runway piece in real life… and she’s failed to do that… that same Kurta on her with some well -tailored patiala salwars would be simply awesome!!

  13. Well…if everybody dressed up with ‘perfect’ hair and ‘perfect’ dresses….the world would be a boring place….i like her sense of dressing..this time!….and this dress is well….different …i still think in a good way….she looks quirky….good quirky….just my opinion.

  14. A simple plain black churi would have been enough to make her shine in that kurta!!!!!! Else give me a scissor, I can cut that kurta into a simple tank top! Hope she reads these comments so she gets some ideas!

Hmmm come to think of it, 10yrs back, didn’t people wear smthg like this during bedtime?

  15. What is wrong with you Vidya…?

I really don’t know what to say about her anymore. I mean c’mon a plain white well-cut, well-fitted salwar kameez with no make up would be better than this!! Infact better than allot of things.

    Honestly I think she’s very insecure about dressing and I can’t fathom why… I mean… huh!

Dark wash J Brands and an American Apparel V neck tee? Sigh. I dunno…

  16. Oh I love the look. To see a women decked up like this at a wine tasting or at the mall, would simply take my breath away. Yea the plumps were kinda stupid…..but on the whole Vidya Balan’s got personality!

  17. I am finding it hard to believe that she came up with the ensemble herself. Something tells me this is the work of a stylist and or designer and I certainly hope its not Sabya.
Cant believe anyone would have the guts to put this together!
I cant even give her marks for trying to move away from her trademark anarkalli, am almost wishing she was back in one.

  18. I don’t think the ensemble is the problem. It’s the clunky shoes/clogs which ruin the look. Had she paired them with better footwear and jewelery with more drama to it, it could have been a cute kitschy Indian look. too bad it was a missed opportunity!

  19. in college i did a project on advertising that showed how companies sometimes use terrible ads on purpose because the incredulity/horror of them assures recall value for years to conme.

    case in point: vidya balan.

  20. Didn’t she get the worst dressed woman award about 2-3 years ago. ( I remember SRK and Saif handing her out that “Na-Real ” award ) . What is she trying to achieve now? Here are some suggestions

“Worst dressed of a decade” ,
“Desiner Faluda” (the one who messes the designers) ,
    “Clunky-Anarkali”

Any new suggestions are welcome !

      “1 Nar 100 anarkali” [from 1 Anar 100 bimar ]
“Khichadi queen” [for making a khichadi of different designs]
      “Style ka dushman”

  21. I like that Vidya sticks to her dressing style and is comfortable with her dress sense. But I really like her, because she is the only A List Bollywood star who consistently prefers Indian designers over Western ones.

There are not too many women like her in West obsessed Bollywood. I think she has a very Indian fashion sense, and if it has got her this far, why change it now?
