Vidya has been promoting her upcoming movie ‘Sherni’ and was seen wearing Nupur Kanoi separates, an anarkali-style wrap dress from Ritu Kumar and a printed sari from Aishr Illustrations. Yet again, the sari stood out for me instantly but I also loved the Kanoi on her. The faux-wrap dress, not one bit.

1st two are interesting on her, but proportions aren’t helping. Saree look is awesome, kinda boho
I didn’t like the kanoi at at. Unnecessary adds bulkiness and isn’t elegant

I know P&p have a certain partiality for roomy and fairly forgiving cuts, but rule of the thumb’s gotta be a structured top half and a free flow bottom, or vice versa. Both cannot be dhola dhola (for lack of a better description, I had to go with my tam vocab!) It gives a very potato sack vibe and does a kill joy to the wearer and viewer. On the Kanoi – if Ms Balan had ditched the sharara altogether and gone for stilettoes, or done a basic structured plain top to pair with the sharara, it would have upped the game altogether. Put together like this it looks lazy vs being breezy.

The first outfit is good, the other two not at all..
Sari is great… first 2 dresses – i liked some pieces like blue – both top/ bottoms are good as separate but not together. 2nd brown dress – i do not think i like it on her height/body
I like Vidya, but all these looks are thumbs down for me 🙁 wish she’d go back to her simple sari aesthetic, try konkana’s saris in the next post 🙂
