Vidya was spotted recently wearing a printed draped shirt and pants from Gazal Gupta for an event and a corset top and pants from Lea Clothing Co. to celebrate the new year/birthday.

Between the two, liked the floral look immediately. As for the corset look, that corset top didn’t work with those pants. a pair of high waisted flared ones would’ve worked way better.

What say you?

  1. It’s neither for me. These large prints in matching separates look overwhelming!! I have a pet peeve with corset tops and the 2 different shades of black make the look worse

  2. The floral has all elements right, maybe just a wee bit too much of flare on the pants. The corset look is making her look wide, feels somehow incomplete

  3. the printed pants, if better fitted, would’ve been a winner. the gauzy corset and those ill-fitted narrow pants were a non-starter

  4. Such horrible clothes. Such silly poses. Vidya has been in showbiz for almost 20 years and the only time she had a good run was during the Paa, Ishkiya and Dirty Picture days when she collaborated with Sabya. After that it’s only been downhill.

      • Being an actor for so many years and having access to plenty of designers and stylists, she should have by now figured out what clothes work for her. Sad she didn’t. Yes, as an actor she is fantastic.

  5. She needs some serious intervention for her overall looks.. the tight pulled jaye make her face and shoulders look broader.. these boxy oversized or tight clothes add to the problems.. I see her happier with losened hair and sarees, maxis, Kurtis, more natural looks.

  6. I like the floral print, but the fit of the shirt around the waist could have been more flattering. crotch area fit is odd..a softer hairdo would have worked better

  7. I like both just because she changed it up. Not that i mind her usual saree looks at all. She is one of the few who does them well.

  8. The black corset is giving major “Dirty Picture” vibes and not in a good way. The floral print one is better and that is a relative comparison.

  9. She definitely needs to fire her stylist. I feel bad for her. Such a beautiful woman and such terrible outfit choices all the time. Whilst I agree that she looks fab in sarees and Kurtis, I do think she could carry off some stunning western silhouettes too rather than all these unflattering outfits that do nothing for her. So sad to see this as she has a gorgeous shape but it isn’t show cases due to the poor clothes choices.

  10. I think she’s feeling herself in the corset and pants, so even though it’s not my fave I’ll cheer her on for that! I think she’s lost a bit of weight and looks great. I was surprised to know that Vidya is only 42! Somehow over the past couple years, her dressing sense has aged her and I was sure she was 45 plus. I’m liking this saucy Vidya again!

  11. I am happy she stepped out of her comfort zone. Having said that, she needs a better stylist to give her body type appropriate clothing which flatter her frame. The printed outfit had promise ..but needs a better fit.

  12. These are doing her no justice at all. Especially the fit of the trousers in both outfits. If she is experimenting with western silhouettes, I would love to see her go with something, for lack of a better word, abstract. Specifically, I am thinking of the types of silhouettes that brands like COS tend towards – an alternative type of classic, which focuses on good fabrics and cuts, but still ends up being interesting without being too out there.

The outfits here are just lazy and trying something different just for the sake of being different, with no regard to what actually suits both her body and her personality. If her stylist is listening – please try better! Ms. Balan deserves something more than this.

  13. This woman will never, ever learn how to dress herself in a chic way. And that’s got absolutely nothing to do with her size or body shape.
