In Fatherland

While in Delhi, Vidya attended Amol Palekar’s art exhibition wearing a woven Fatherland sari with a tribal-style comb necklace and ring also from Fatherland.

These aren’t the best pics but from what we see, we love!

    • Its not priced like a designer saree, Fatherland is a lot like “fabindia” in terms of price. Its just associated with a “name” as opposed to being from a nameless weaver. It actually looks like a sambhalpuri cotton saree.

  1. This look is from ‘motherland’! specially third pic is like a woman trying to hide her baby bump. nothing new. same old vidya. also, tempted to put her bindi down, more between brows. just me?

  2. If she did drape her pallu properly, she would be called an air hostess. 😉
She looks great. However who are these people slapping brand names on regular old cotton saris and selling them for ten times the price?

  3. Lovely. So so beautiful. I love the casual pallu drape too and as someone rightly said above, if draped too neatly everyone calls it an air hostess look.

  5. I am surprised by how many call this the grandmother look. I love how elegant and gorgeous the saree is. Google Fatherland and check out their blog, read about the saree, the history behind it and how far it has traveled to reach your eyes. Not only do these images reveal that classic can never go wrong, it brings back a timeless aura and revives a lost art. I have nothing against modern, hip dresses or even sarees…but like a kanchipuram or a benaras saree, this saree speaks volumes in its weave and its understated elegance. A salute to the weaves!! Please don’t belittle it.
