Sari Style

For an appearance at a recent event, Vidya paired her red-orange woven sari with a Sabyasachi blouse. Wearing her hair centre-parted and in a knot, Vidya finished out the look with Amrapali earrings, beaded bracelet and a pair of glasses. This one’s a ‘Not Quite‘ for me… As much as the color works on her, the look itself was way too severe for the actor.

  1. this is probably the nicest she has looked in recent times. Clean, and beautiful. She looks her her old self – the one that is comfortable in what she wears.

  4. She looks really good and on trend: Indian geek chic. If this was a certain self-proclaimed icon, you would have NOT termed the look a ‘not quite’.

  5. I think she looks lovely no matter what.So much better than those shirt dresses or anarkali maxis that were her staple for a while.

  6. Did she forget to remove the price tag from her sari. What is the white thing in the bottom of her saree? One of her better aunty looks.

    • No, that is not a tag. It’s light that passed though the cotton fabric and so it looks as such. For a person who can’t even realize this, you shouldn’t be allowed to call her “aunty”.

      • I checked on other sites. It IS a tag and it was removed I guess later on. Maybe some glasses are needed along with a chill pill. 😀

        • Everytime there’s a snarky, name-calling comment I check the name and it always is “Adara”. “Aunty” seems to be one of your favorite accusations. God, you are so predictable. LOL

        • Mia, YAWN! This constant thing about being a good actress has run its course. She is featured here on HHC for her “fashion” choices which obviously includes clothes.

      • Ikr. Not sure how to handle this popularity. Ha ha. And they have now claimed me as some stylist. Good joke of the year. I should probably abandon my business school and probably live in India. But I don’t think Samantha or anyone can afford me though. 😛

  7. I am so glad that some actors dress their age and not constantly make unsuccessful attempts at looking like 20 ( read malaika).
I think we should respect the differences in fashion and not expect to everyone to dress the same .

  8. So it seems she has not got over her Sabya hang over and wants to return to the fold of what became her signature style and worked for her !!

    • Whoa my comment was there and then not.

The comment was in fact to say if you have something to say, say it nicely! I just find it odd that mean comments get through but if a commenter complains they get censored. It’s not that difficult to criticise a look without making personal comments about the wearer and that should be your guidelines.

      • Agreed. But we had to moderate since the comments based off of yours were getting really out of hand.

P.S: We are doing the best we can with moderation. It’s hard to keep everyone happy but at some point, we just have to use our discretion. Thank-you for being a reader of the blog and we hope to see more comments from you! 🙂

        • It’s cool PnP!

I get a bit confused now and then. For a reader who enjoys your take which is always to the point, neutral and never personal, the comments can be a bit of a bitter aftertaste:)

  9. PnP im sorry i disagree, there was nothing mean about my second comment. And i wholeheartedly agree with AM that snarky comments are allowed, but we can’t say anything in retaliation. anyway its your call, will try to be nicer next time 🙂

  10. Same ol’ same ol’. Addition were the glasses. If the reason she has been featured is because of her “acting” skills . I would like to suggest many other actors from South who wears saris /desi clothes and keep it simple, casual and elegant. Like Suhasini, Revathi, Saranaya…all national award and state award winning actresses(in case awards was the criteria). Agreed they don’t sport Sabyasachis but still they wear the non designer ones far better than this lady can ever without making it look dowdy/clumsy. I am sure lot of people would agree with me in featuring those artists.
