In Sabyasachi

As much as I love the color (am in a green phase), I am not loving this look on Vidya. It feels like Ms. Balan got dressed in a hurry and a sari that that should look elegant falls short because of the way it was worn. You like?

  1. vidya is looking like ‘pucca idiot’ at the idiots premiere!..lol
jokes apart, i like the saree..but she shud have tied it higher..almost didnt notice the border at the feet. she looks like elaine(seinfield) with that curly hair here

  2. Neck up, Vidya looks fabulous, and she even wears the sari well, but it’s too voluminous for such a tiny person, and the draping just emphasizes the “heaviness” of the sari; not a bad look by any stretch, however.

  3. The sari is worn in a hurry. the blouse looked borrowed from a yesteryear aunty.. and is that a very casual hair look? Just looks untidy!
Dont feel like being so mean but Vidya can do soo much better. Even with her anarkalis!

  4. Are you sure this is Sabya? Wow who would’ve thought. I agree, it is a beautiful sari, but she’s worn it very very very badly. And the broad border only makes her look bigger than she is.

  5. I think that it is mainly the fact that the sari is satin! Indian women just cannot pull off satin for some reason, yet so many of them insist on wearing it!

  6. wow that’s an ugly ugly sari
    it’s not vidya’s fault
there’s no way that sari could look good – worn any way
just my 2 cents – while i agree that some sabyasachi clothes are beautiful, there are also several that are not but there seems to be an aura around the brand that makes everyone swoon no matter what

  7. I think there is such a thing as being too young to wear an outfit. And never hasit been truer than inthis case.
It simply looks out of place on her…

  8. Satin saree in a Noel green color with fugly big rose embroidery!! What was Sabyasachi thinking when he designed this?? As for Vidya, I have no more words for her!!

      • @hira.. i think ashi spoke the truth.. she looks like those auntys who go all decked up to a mall / kitty party.. though most of them would tie their sari more neatly and actually run a comb through their hair

        • Heya! Agreed Vidya doesnt look her best and I normally avoid replying to comments that put down a celebrity but i guess over a period of time, I have begun to feel really really sorry for Vidya Balan. If she dresses ethnic, then she is a “behenji”, if she dresses western, she is a “behenji turned mod”. Its like everyone loves to rip Vidya apart.

I wonder how severe beating her confidence might take if she reads some of the comments here. If the comments are sarcastic yet have some fashion opinion thrown it, they are still acceptable. Its just the condescending comments by people just for the heck of commenting that really get to me.

          • @ hira..

What about all the flak other professionals take… for eg a politician .. ala Mr Bush … or an out of form cricketer.. merely getting “hurt” or demoralised by negative public feedback will not suffice.. take it as a bugle call to pull up your socks and get to work!

So if Ms Balan feels so “hurt” by the behenji / behenji turned mod comments.. well… sista, hiring a competent stylist would seem a wise move..

  9. I don’t think it’s the sari that’s bad (at all, actually). The blouse throws the entire look off by not matching. Isn’t it the same blouse she’s been wearing all around recently?

  10. Don’t like the hair..lovely colour but not a fan of that sabyasachi saree. And again bored with vidya looking the same at all recent events. Actually I think kareena n vidya shud exchange designers for a lil while.. Wud bring some freshness. Even though manish has done an awful job at dressing vidya in the past. But then I personally don’t think he does any better with dressing other celebs. Atleast it might bring some comic relief instead of yawns

  11. The saree is nice, rich and perhaps a tad too christmassy! What totally kills it is the matron-ish black blouse and bad bad hairdo! It pains me to see how vidya ruins classy sabyasachis’ again and again!

  12. I think its the satin background that ruins this saree for me and the border just swamps her, maybe a taller person could have pulled it off, or maybe she should have let the pallu fall free instead of pinning it – because as it is, its looking like border overload!

  13. im sorry but im beginning to get reallllyyyy annoyed at her.. isnt she fed up of dressing the same everywhere she goes… obviously not!! from now on im going to ignore any of vidya’s posts..

  14. Not working at all! If there is anything i like it is the blouse though the fitting doesnt seem right on her. I love the grand olden era saree but i wont wear it.

  15. If this is a Sabya sari – it just proves that everybody has a bad design day:). Goes to say something about Vidya/stylist’s choice. You cannot blindly wear anything just because it is from a particular designer. Looks like she does not have an eye for aesthetics. That said she perfectly gels with the festive Christmas spirit.

  16. I think that some of Vidya’s outfits are very graceful and so organic and traditional that they bring a welcome relief from the Bollywood bling, but still for some one to stick to such safe, traditional outfits all the time, when there are so many other fun, fab choices out there… either she’s not at all interested in fashion or she’s a little insecure about her style

I know she said that she isn’t interested in being a babe and that she’s intellectual, but still intellectuals change it up as well don’t they?

Nt even sure what to ugh first…..

  18. She looks good…not great but good!!! I would definitely like her to experiment more. She seems to find a style and stick to it till it bores all..including herself. I hope, if she really wants to stick to sarees she experiment more. With all the options around, kancheevarams, jamdani, ikat n all. I love sabya but do not wish to see people in just one particular style. Thats so just not me!!

  19. Why oh why Vidya. Those huge red things remind me of poinsettias. Too bad .. your face looks pretty as ever but the print is a bit horrid, sorry Vidya. Can you please, please hire someone or have someone advise u..someone with some taste. No offence, love you, but, just hate to see u make bad choices and move away from what u COULD be.

  20. Most people have said what I was thinking. Christmas tree was the first thought in my head. Vidya looks fab in sarees but this is definitely all wrong!
