Twice In A Row

Black Dress? Check. Long Necklace? Check. Colorful pumps? Check.

Is it us or is Twinkle getting predictable? Or maybe, its just a ‘wear it to a store event’ thing. Either ways, just for getting the dress length right the second time, our pick is the look from the Jade store launch.

Yours?

  1. Out of all the celebrities that you post on here, Twinkle is definitely the most put together, stylish and chic. The way she puts outfits together is effortless, down to her accessories
LOVE those red and blue pumps, i wonder if she has one in every color! 🙂

  2. yea, well…. her predictability isn’t too bad. maybe im biased, but she does try out different styles pretty frequently as well. i think she’s in her element when she’s in dresses than in desi outfits – though she suits both imo.

  6. love the peacock necklace and red pumps, however her face looks better in the 2nd pic.. nehow..as an outfit first one is better… I hate the blue pumps

  7. I prefer the red shoe ensemble, that dress gives her an elongated/slimmer silhouette compared o the other one. Her hair looks greasy, and the roots are discolouring in the 2nd pic.

  8. I hate to say it, but I think the days of the LBD are numbered…at least in its traditional version! Perhaps Twinkle is thinking that since these “launches” are so boring, she should match? Honestly, I could not imagine having to go to another Store Launch or Kickoff or Event almost every day of the week.

  9. it’s only because much of the rest of the Bollywood crowd this blog features dresses so badly that Twinkle stands out. She just looks as if she puts some thought into her appearance, has an eye for accessories and knows what suits her — the not-so-common basics of good dressing. In no way is she an exceptional or even an innovative dresser.

  10. @ flower power – you have a good point. your opinion is respected, though I do find Twinkle to be a great style icon – but thing is nobody would call her one because she’s Twinkle Khanna. Bollywood film buffs would probably call Karisma or Priyanka or Aishwarya “exceptional” dressers, though we at HHC recognize they’re not all that 😉 who in your opinion is exceptional? 🙂

  11. I do like her here, but those blue pumps are a let down!! She should’ve worn the red ones here as well….I would rather go with the first look.

  12. twinkle looks fabulous in both pics. love both the dresses. i agree with some people here that the blue shoes look a bit odd and the red go better.

  13. I think Twinkle has great style. It’s not about being the best or the most exceptional, it’s something that you either have or you don’t (your own style). She doesn’t have to be best-dressed all the time to show that. A person’s taste in decor is obvious even by the smallest accessory. Like for example, her peacock necklace is really stunning….now that’s good taste lol:P

  14. @K: you know, when i think back to recent HHC posts, the only one that comes back is Neena Gupta in the fabulous black-and-white checkered blouse with a blue saree. now that’s a lady who pushes the envelope — she’s innovative, fun and completely personalised. not like most stars/starlets who are dressed (by their stylists or otherwise) in stuff of the rack which, theoretically, anyone could duplicate.

  15. @mj: yes, to Sonam — love her youth and freshness and nonchalance and knack for putting things together. at the same time, i’d like to see her more in stuff that’s not obviously designer, and still looking like a million bucks!

  16. she looks better withher hair tied back. the ghosla hair on the right does not suit her. also dress on left makes her look long and lean and teh red shoes are way nicer.

  17. Like some mentioned, Tina does have her own sense of dressing…what draws her apart she takes it to another level adding that spunk to her cloths, either by necklace, clutches or shoes.
Sometimes what you think looks good on a mannequin or even at home may not translate outdoors in the event under bright camera lights. But I have to give it to her she is daring and bold setting her own trends does not care if others like it or not. 😉

  18. @mj & flower power: i personally find sonams style too forced. im using the word “forced” here because she makes a very conscious effort to change her hair, basic style and type of accessories on every occasion, may/may not be to reinforce the “style icon” tag…… to the point where she has ended up as a WTHeeyyy on a couple of occasions (read anamika khanna) or atleast a “on the fence” on several. But of course, no one at HHC would call her that, would they?

yes, its important to change it up, but it should be innate and effortless, not forced and OTT. IMHO

  19. I agree with preeths. Blinky, I have to differ on what you’re saying. I don’t think Twinkle sets any trends. On the contrary, she almost always plays it safe with her sheath dresses and pumps or other such outfits. even her casuals are very safe, in the she’ll wear jeans and a top with a statement making piece of jewelry. that doesn’t mean she looks bad, usually safe is good and smart. at least it’s not wthey. but it’s certainly not trendsetting.

in that respect, i find twinke’s and karisma’s style sense very similar. they both stick to tried and tested combinations of clothes. twinkle’s style might be more versatile because she does like big jewelry and colors while karisma sticks to the same color palettes.

about this particular outfit of twinkle’s, i too think that she looks leaner and taller in the dress on the left, and with her hair pulled back. she looks a bit stumpy in the photo on the right.

  20. @flower power:

i was talkin about these appearances:
    in anamika khanna: https://www.highheelconfidential.com/sonam-kapoor-delhi-6-premiere-in-delhi-anamika-khanna/

    in sabyasachi:

i really think these above appearances are a desperate attempt to look “different” and to reinforce the “taking risk” tag.definitely WTHeyyys IMO. if u like her in the above, well and good. i just hated these two.

and the indian idol ahead of delhi 6 outfit that u mentioned, i think thats a sabyasachi, unless ur referring to something else.

  21. There have been some good points raised above but I think we shouldn’t confuse trendy and style here. In regards to Sonam, I would call her a trendy/eclectic dresser. As trends are always changing, we see Sonam dressed differently all the time. It might look like she’s always “changing things up” but really she’s just staying true to her style. Trends may or may not work at any given time, and we see that when Sonam ends up as a WTHeyy.

Twinkle, on the other hand, is a classic dresser. So to call her predictable is unfair, as that’s what classic dressers do – they are simply staying true to their style. They use the same cuts/silhouettes/accessories over and over. That’s evidenced in Twinkle, yes it may look boring, but that’s her style. I would say that Twinkle does do something different once in a while, and it’s worked for her, but in some cases also against her.

In regards to these pictures, I don’t mind the colours of her shoes, but I don’t like the style of her shoes.

And that’s just my “do paise” on fashion 😀
