Back from London, Kareena was photographed exiting the airport in a vintage Chanel from the nineties. Aside from the Roxanne Assoulin bracelets, classic wayfarers, a roomy tote and sneakers were among her accessories of choice. The off-duty look works; she looked good. Also, while it might not have been a conscious decision on her (or her stylist’s part), given her carbon footprint, props for reaching for vintage to offset at least some of that effect.

Haha, my thoughts exactly. Really PnP!! Ridiculous thing to say.
I don’t understand why that is a ridiculous thing to say? Everything every human does has a carbon footprint. And with her demographic profile (affluent, travel, high rate of consumption including clothes), there is bound to be a humongous footprint. And it isn’t unique to her. All of us have a higher than deserving carbon footprint. If we all bought fewer things (including clothes) the world would be much better off.
Do you really think that’s anywhere on her radar/ her reason for picking this vintage piece. It’s a noble thought no doubt but it’s not the first thought a person will have when they see Kareena pouting away in her oh so vintage Chanel.

And you would do well to do so. Reusing items is one of the best ways to reduce carbon footprint.

Why is carbon footprint remark reserved only for her when we have so many celebs and non celebs (featured on this website) using private jets for local and international travel? That bias aside, she looks great but off late she seems to have a very curated off duty style.

agree. the carbon footprint remark was unnecessary. as someone pointed out, ‘given her’ seems very targeted; the comment is made without any justification either. i still don’t know why kareena’s carbon footprint is highlighted here.

Wait, so vintage really means old? As in worn earlier and stored somewhere or its an old design?Pardon my lack of knowledge on this but unless it’s actually an “old” item, how does it save her C footprint? I always wanted to know what vintage really means in the context of clothes.

But really, what is the deal with vintage? Old designs recycled or actual old clothes! Give us some gyaan PnP!
There have been instances when fashion houses have brought back their vintage prints and used them on current collections or, when designers have been inspired by vintage prints. But ‘Vintage’ by itself is something that is at least 20 years old, so yes, actual old clothes/accessories etc.
Maybe, some celebrities will read this post and remind themselves to be more mindful, about their carbon footprint – at least where they can be more responsible
Perhaps we can hope for that.
One odd randomly worn dress does not reduce anyone’s carbon footprint eapecially when the very next day she is going to be in a new set of clothes.

Celebs can start caring about environment just by repeating Thier clothes , by not using sequined and other plastic embelished chothes and by using more handlooms than designer wear,but in reality neither do they care nor chanel cares nor Manish Malhotra cares..i started using environmental friendly clothes since last year .. automatically my dressing started looking more refined…she should try that ,( all this Gyaan since we are talking about carbon footprint,otherwise I would have kept my thoughts to myself)

I think pnp referred to her frequent travel to and from London as cause of her carbon footprint. She flies to Mumbai for a day all the way from London and recently air-travel is being touted as the biggest source of C emissions.
Its not got anything to do with her fashion here (that is something all of Bollywood is guilty of)
