In Suta

Another round of travel, another sari for it. This time it was a sari by Suta for Kangana, one that she teamed with a Bottega Veneta bag and Gucci sandals. The mul sari and its color screams ‘Summer’ and Kangana on her part wears it with enviable ease.

        • Also she is a three time national award winning actor and 3 of her films are the top earners at the box office for female lead films.

        • she can carry off a saree but her personality is in total contrast to gayathri devis persona ,unless of course you want to hear her say during promotions- ” maharani gayathri devi meri chachi hain kya?”,please spare gayathri devi

        • Poor Maharani Gayatri Devi! She just rolled in her grave, with all the crass talk Kangana and her sister do ; attacking almost everyone she has worked with and putting women she thinks is her competition ( first Deepika and now Alia) down…. she should be the last person cast as the elegant classy Gayatri Devi. P.S her last4 movies have suffered at the box office, Manikarnika could not recover costs.

      • Not really. But I think she will fit the role and as whitewine mentioned she has the aura and style befitting the character. Can you think of anyone else ? Curious to know.

        • Can she carry the clothes as Maharani Gayatri Devi – yes, absolutely.
Can she act as demure and poised – absolutely not. She was borderline comical in Manikarnika. It will take the elegance of Nimrat Kaur or such to play MGD.

  1. Really like her off duty saree looks.. she makes it so damn easy. But.. dislike the very sheer like material, the way it makes the blouse, navel and body so transparent.

    • It’s a mul saree, what else do you expect…women have been wearing them for ages in India…but yeah with her toned figure n draping style she doesn’t look like us regular women..:)

      • I haven’t seen anything this thin in all my life wherever I have seen everyday women in saree. Not that she picked it by purpose to show her riff.. but my problem is the material n not the lady.. this sort of see through is made by big designers in name of genuine quality. So get the difference.

        • It is better to buy at local shops or at exhibitions where artisans from various places come and sell their products. At least we are paying directly to the artisan.
If we buy at these bada designers, we are paying their AC bill, rent etc.

          • Suta isn’t really a “bada” designer. Their mul sarees are very reasonably priced, around the 2000 rupee mark. (And please spare me the 2K-for-mul!! horror. Their products are handwoven and we have to be very small people to grudge this figure.)

            • You misunderstood me. I am not talking about affordable brands like Suta. This is the first time I am seeing this label, I don’t know about it. I was talking about labels like good earth where they were discussing in the Kareena post.

            • Ohh that’s nice.. I didn’t know the brand name or weaver community involved. Anyways a very visible gripe, doesn’t require so much thrashing. I dislike so much of a see through saree material, it’s mostly seen on actresses.. never on common women.

      • @Neha, kindly don’t drag everyone. I personally know many women who are naturally bestowed with good body n look great in almost anything. I am sure, there must be such women around you as well. This notion that only celebs have a great body or skin is not correct. Yes, they have a time n money to invest into ‘self-maintenance’ n they have to because that’s the demand of their profession but regular women too can have good body n other physical attributes.

  3. I just checked out Suta website and this saree is only INR 2900 but she makes it look so elegant and effortless. Kudos to wearing real stuff and not so called “designer” wear !

  4. Genuine question …do these celebs wear petticoat under the sari or is it something different? The skirt of the sari somehow looks different than when us ordinary folks wear them. Not sure if it’s just my imagination ?
