In Virtues

While at a launch of an eatery in Mumbai, Sona was photographed in a printed silk dress by Virtues. An orange beaded necklace, a color-blocked shoulder bag and pair of metallic sandals rounded out the songstress’ look.

Sona attended two recent Diwali parties, wearing two rather different looks.

The look in Virtues dress (and Motifs by Surabhi Didwania jewelry) was right up her alley, but it was her appearance in the beige suit that was an instant favorite of mine. Simple and fuss-free, it made for a refreshing change of pace. And besides, Ms. Mohapatra looked lovely.

Wearing a dress by Virtues, Sona first attended a film festival’s opening night event and later, an after-party at Antila. Silver jewelry and a metallic clutch were among her accessories for the evening.

Though the songstress wore her dress well, can’t say we were fans of the look. The dress just was not our cup of tea.

Of Promotions

Ms. Fernandez has been rather busy with Roy promotions around the country giving us a few different looks while at it. The Kavita Bhartia look instantly caught our attention, we loved it. Wish we had better pics of the Tarun Tahiliani one.

Which of the three here was your favorite?

Lakme Fashion Week Spring 2010: Day Four

In case you are wondering what happened to day three, it was a menswear-centric day and we’ll be coming back to it after we finish womenswear.

Taking inspiration from his home state’s attire, Nagaland born Imcha Imchen presented a collection of men and women’s wear in organic cotton and silk with vegetable dyes. ‘How Many Stories Can You See On My Face’ comprised of block print/double layered tops, draped dresses for women with pleated shirts and wrap around skirts for men.

On day two, we saw the innovative ‘Button Masala’ collection by Anuj Sharma. Day four also presented another innovation collection by Neha Agarwal. ‘I Stole From Him’ was rooted in two basic pieces: a long shift dress and an oversized net jacket. Neha combined several different fabrics like voile, silk, chiffon and net and came up with multiple creations that all stuck to the root theme of the one dress and one jacket. I, for one, loved the whole collection.

‘Breathe’, the collection by Kiran and Megha, consisted of smock dresses and pinafores in beige, white and black. Most of the dresses had a contrasting gold hemline or an underlying layer in a different print to form a contrast with the top one. The flowy silhouettes will appeal to a lot especially when you think of the hot summers that we sometimes go through.

Virtues also presented a Bridal collection, ‘Forever’, but instead of using bold colors that we normally associate marriage festivites with, the designers went with a more muted color palette that consisted of sea green, beige and soft pinks. What I liked about this collection was the use of gold without it feeling blingy but what I didn’t like about this collection was the tailoring on some of the cholis, very ill-fitted on the models.
