Deepika, The Grand Marshal

Deepika attended the India Day celebrations in NYC as Grand Marshal and wore Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani and Shantanu-Nikhil.

The sari had the typical trademark design of Manish Malhotra, which we just saw on Shilpa and I wish there was a full-length pic of the Shantanu-Nikhil lehenga, because we rarely see their traditional designs.

I personally thought the Tarun Tahiliani lehenga was too heavy-duty for a day-event, but what say you?

P.S. I searched quite a bit and couldn’t find clear full-lengths of all outfits. If you do, do drop us a line.

The Scarf Dress Face Off

We have seen it on quite a few, but who wears the blue better?

Ameesha, Amrita or neither?

Round Two

Shivani Wazir continues her romance with the ‘kamar-bandh’ but this time thankfully chose to wear her blouse under the sari and not over it unlike the last time we spotted her… one less monstrosity to deal with, and hey, minor miracles do count!

She seems to be attempting to channel the Tarun Tahiliani runway look, but going by her latest appearance, can’t call that a success by any measure now, can we?

WLIFW: Tarun Tahiliani

Tarun Tahiliani’s show had a bit of everything. The collection was swathed in different colors as varied as reds, purples, greys, blacks, beiges and creams and in different textures, tulle, net, tweed, velvet or his signature chiffons. The expected craftsmanship of using embroideries and other work in traditional Indian techniques was there too.

The menswear saw mostly Indian formal wear but the real show-stealers were the women’s designs. The collection swayed between Indian and Western ensembles but it was easy to easy that the Indian silhouettes retained the western influences in their clean, elegant and minimal design.
