WLIFW Spring 2013: Rishta

Stark, somber and sharp. Perfect for the Downtown girl when Uptown. That’s how the vibe reads to me anyway, edgy without the gaucheness.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Gaurav Gupta

Sculpted, pleated and draped, the clothes were unmistakably Gaurav Gupta. The sari-dresses/draped saris made a comeback minus ornate corsage embellishment. In its place were intricately pleated accents on the shoulder. Whether bits of it or all neon, loved the burst of color. The sportswear vibe was hard to miss (see Row Three). My favorite part of the collection though were the printed pieces with pops of neon.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Rahul Mishra

The designer best known for working magic with weaves didn’t disappoint. Aside from his usual silhouettes, the inclusion of body-con dresses and fitted sheaths were a surprise but not an unwelcome one. Love the sheer panels. Also a favorite was the kurta and wide-leg trousers with a bit of sheer (Row One, extreme left). I was had at the pockets!

WLIFW Spring 2013: Nachiket Barve

Nachiket Barve has to be the go-to designer for girly-girls, the ones that prefer soft, pretty and very feminine aesthetic over plain candy-floss cute.

Peplum tops tend to be rather stiff and so seeing them in a softer form was refreshing (Row One, second from left). And while on peplum, the embellished purple gown looked great (Row Two, second from right). Loved the saris.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Anupamaa

Though DeBo is a word that gets brandished about a tad too frequently (admittedly by me), it does fit Anupama Dayal’s latest collection rather well. Easy and laid-back, the flower-child meets a strong Indian aesthetic is something the designer does well.
