LFW Winter/Festive 2011: Sabyasachi

If you’re following us on Twitter, you already know how much of a dillemma we are in! Buy gold or buy a Sabyasachi? Until mommy dearest knocks us in our head, we’re putting away money in the bank to buy the latter for now. 😛

He made us fall in love with velvet and we didn’t even think that was possible. How delish are those velvet saris. Sigh.

We do have a complain though! It was bad enough that we were saving up to buy for ourselves. Now, we have to add a fund for the better halves and the children too! We are going to be broke pretty soon!

P.S. We love love love a Sabya show. It is not a catwalk. It is a theatrical presentation. Models don’t strut. They walk slowly and let you take in slowly the gorgeous creations as they walk by because you need that extra moment after being taken aback by the sheer beauty at the first sight! In attendance at the Fashion Week were Sridevi, Vidya and Shraddha who took in Sabyasachi’s show dressed in the designer’s saris. While we think all three of ’em looked absolutely lovely, there’s no denying Sridevi stole the show.

Ms. Padukone continued the desi streak wearing a Sabyasachi sari at a special screening for Aarakshan. We think she looked lovely but would’ve preferred the hair pulled back and the make-up less bronzed.

For her Harper’s Bazaar shoot, Shobhaa De was dressed in a Sabyasachi maxi, one that you may recall seeing on Arpita. Loved the way the maxi was styled in the shoot (with the vest).
