At the Indian Film Festival-Bollywood and Beyond in Australia, for her various appearances Vidya was spotted in Sabyasachi saris. But of course. Of the three very different saris, which was your favorite? Have a favorite stand-out look?

We loved all three saris but as far as a look goes, we’d have to pick her appearance in the yellow-mustard silk on far left.

Am not sure if we love Sabina more or envy her! Love, because she always has fun with fashion, always is unapologetic with it. Envy, because she gets to wear Sabyasachi ahead of it even being showed on the runway. And so like I said, don’t know if we love her more or envy her! Sigh.

No one quite plays with textures, colors and prints like he does, and this master craftsman has us gush, season after season. The khadi color-block dress, the peasant blouse and the floral dress were my absolute favorite (follow the arrow!)… I need to have ’em now. I must. Okay so now that, that’s out of the system…

Sabyasachi’s collection was inspired by the Save The Tiger project. Using his Bengali aesthetic and crafts of the region in a stellar manner, Mr. Mukherjee put forth a collection that was fresh, contemporary and still had his signature kitsch appeal.

The show started off with yellow and black toned ensembles (channeling the colors of the Tiger?) and then progressively moving on to other colors. According to the press note, the presented collection moved through various decades of fashion- the fun and freedom of the 20s, elegance of the 30s and 40s, 70s boho chic and the 80s daring arresting bras.

Loved the use of khadi and handloom fabrics and the use of earthy tones along with the brighter hues. Florals were just brilliant and we must absolutely get our hands on that bright printed sack gown. Oh but wait, I already said that! 🙂

Sona took in the Sabyasachi show in an outfit by the designer. I love her make-up/hair, pairing of the tunic with tights and oxfords but I can’t bring myself to like the lame patchwork tunic. It probably looked better in person but with all the camera flashes comes of looking bad.

A Rani and Vidya appearance these days and you pretty much get a Sabya one too. 😛 Unfortunately, you won’t find us go gaga over either because of the presentation.

Rani had on a cheery sari and the contrasting blouse was nice but the overdose of the bangles and the huge earrings really take more away from the look than add to it. Simple jhumkis and a kada might have worked better for her.

As for Vidya, it’s the only picture we have and it didn’t quite excite either. Not a fan of the hair.
